Chances are, you clicked over to this article after having read the previous one, “Senior Scholarships: Vol. 1 | 2016.” If not, check out that one first by clicking here. In this article, we will be focusing on the articles that have more specific eligibility requirements, thus only available to a select group of people.

1. The AP Government “Running with the Stampede” Award and Scholarship Program

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Graduating senior from YLHS
  • AP Government student
  • Unweighted academic GPA of at least a 3.0
  • Completed at least 100 community service hours
  • Participated in at least two extracurricular activities/clubs

If you meet the eligibility requirements, to apply you will need:

  • An official transcript
  • Two letters of recommendation
    • One from a YLHS teacher
    • One from a counselor, administrator, or community leader
  • Verification of Extracurricular Activities and/or a Job
  • Personal Statement
  • A 1,000 to 2,000 word essay on American Exceptionalism

2. The Aspiring Nurse Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a US high school senior
  • Planning to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs

If you meet the eligibility requirements, to apply you will need:

  • Answer a short essay question
  • Fill out an online application

3. CSEA Chapter 293 Scholarship Application

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a current Chapter 293 member or a child of a current member
  • Graduating high school senior, or a student at an accredited college, university, vocational, technical, or trade school
  • GPA of at least a 2.5

If you meet the eligibility requirements, to apply you will need:

  • An official transcript
  • Two letter of recommendation
    • One from a teacher or counselor
    • One from a community member, not related to the applicant

4. Orange County Chinese-American Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must have at least one parent who is of Chinese descent
  • Must have a cumulative unweighted GPA of at least a 3.5
  • Must be graduating from a high school in Orange County or LA County
  • Must have an SAT score of at least an 1800 or an ACT score of at least a 27.
  • Must be able to prove need for financial aid

If you meet the eligibility requirements, to apply you will need:

  • An official transcript
  • One letter of recommendation from a high school teacher or advisor, a current or past manager or employer, or an organizational leader
  • A 500-word autobiography
  • Proof of income and financial need
    • FAFSA
    • Signed family’s tax return from the past two years
    • IRS form 4506-T

5. PYLUC of PTA/PTSAs Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a member of good standing of a PTA/PTSA
  • Must have a GPA of at least a 2.0

If you meet the eligibility requirements, to apply you will need:

  • Photocopy of PTA/PTSA membership card
  • Statement on reason for applying
  • Paragraph on importance of community service
  • Description of community involvement
