Brooke also noted that “her [Olivia’s] new album is pink, which is cute, but I thought it was going to be red, like burgundy!”

She’s not the only one who’d speculated. Other fans had been captivated by what has become known as the ‘Olivia Rodrigo mural wall’ on 7010 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles. The wall has been repainted numerous times over the past few months, hinting at song and album titles throughout that time. Olivia’s single ‘drop dead’ was one of the songs hinted at on the wall, and the colors the wall was repainted to (frequently shades of pink or lavender) have been suspected to be Olivia’s album cover colors. This wall has been covered by numerous Reddit and Tiktok posts.

Now that the album and its cover have been revealed, we can see that the cover does indeed feature Olivia in a pink dress. She’s upside down on a swing, seemingly happy with her feet swinging in the air. In addition, various album versions have been released, including a sticky sweet hot pink version, a ‘pretty sad‘ Target exclusive edition, a ‘hope like snow‘ Target exclusive, and a ‘spark in the dark‘ black vinyl alongside a normal album. There are also cassettes in baby blue and light pink available. Unfortunately, as of right now, all signed versions are sold out.

Olivia has stated in interviews with Audacy Check In and British Vogue that this album will be filled with “sad love songs” and yearning/longing. She says ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ is all about her “first big-girl relationship”, and all the emotions (jealousy, longing, missing her partner) that she went through during this relationship. It’s a small change from her usual songs, which have typically been more heartbreak focused, since ‘you seem pretty sad’ will be all about being in love rather than having your heart broken. She’s shared no details on song titles or specific song concepts other than the promotional single ‘drop dead’, which was released on April 17th. The song itself was revealed through a fun game involving locks spread around London and Paris. Grace Yang (10) said that all of Olivia’s songs are “very danceable, songs you can jam to”. About ‘drop dead’ specifically, she said “I like the filming location (the Palace of Versailles)”.
