Senior year is a time filled with mixed emotions, excitement for the future, nostalgia,, and realization that high school is coming to an end. After years of seeing the same teachers, along the same hallways, and spending everyday with the same people, the final months of senior year are the perfect time to make lasting memories. Ending senior year the right way means appreciating the moment, celebrating accomplishments, and making time for the people who made the experience special.
Create Bucket List
One of the best ways to make the most of the last month of high school is by creating a senior bucket list with friends. A bucket list can include fun experiences, traditions, or even simple things you want to do before graduation. The goal is not to complete something huge, but to create memories together with your friends.
Some ideas for a bucket list include: watching the sunrise or sunset, winning senior assassin, or having an all nighter sleepover. Many seniors also enjoy planning theme movie nights, going to a school game, or visiting places in Orange County that they have never explored. things like writing letters to your future selves or singing each other’s yearbooks can become meaningful moments later on.
Plan activities With Friends
Spending time with friends is one of the most important parts of finishing the year off right. While everyone may be busy with schoolwork, sports or preparing to go college, setting aside time to do activities together can make the final months feel special.

Some fun activities seniors often take part in include beach days, picnic at the park, friend-group dinners, or last-minute road trips. Others plan simple hangouts like going out for ice cream, after school, studying together for finals, or attending school events like sports or plays. Rupal Tyagi (12), a student from YLHS, shares how she is excited to go see “The Music Man” with her friends because she has never been to a school play and wants to experience that before she graduates.” These activities give friends time to relax and appreciate the friendships built during high school.
Capture Memories
Senior year goes by faster than most seniors expect, which is why capturing every moment is important. Taking photos with friends, teachers, and teammates can help preserve these moments lon after graduation. Many students take photos, create photo collages, photo dumps, or even scrapbooks to remember the final year.
Appreciate the Moment
As graduation approaches, many seniors start focusing on what comes next instead of focusing on what is happening right now. While thinking about the future is exciting, it is just as important to live in and appreciate the present. The everyday routines that once felt normal, like eating lunch with your friends, will soon become a memory. Brady Shankirik (12), senior at YLHS, shares how he “now is trying his best to live on the money because seniors went by faster than he thought.”
Ending senior year the right way is not about having the most perfect plans, it is about enjoying the time that is left, completing a few fun bucket list experiences, and making memories with friends before everyone begins the next chapter of their lives.
