After a long-awaited four years, the senior class of 2026 is prepared to head into their next big step in life. Whether that be a four-year university, trade school, or any other alternative, there are large changes coming for this year’s graduating class. With graduation season coming up, seniors and their families are thinking of ways to celebrate this amazing 12-year accomplishment that will launch them into adulthood.
Many graduates opt for a party where loved ones gather to commemorate that individual, while others may choose to take a fun post-graduation trip with friends or family. Rupal Tyagi (12) states, “I’ll be heading on a senior trip with my closest friends just a few days after graduation. I can’t wait!” So, here are a few options to consider if you do decide to take the vacation route, that are sure to allow for a promising getaway.
1. Camp at a National Park
For those who aim for a less extravagant and smaller-scale retreat, you can never go wrong with a road trip to your nearest National Park (in our case, Joshua Tree) alongside a weekend stay in the wilderness. Hop in a big car with a few friends and prepare to form stronger bonds with those around you as you huddle around a campfire and make s’mores. Not only is it a cost-effective option, but it also never fails to create inside jokes that will never be forgotten.
2. San Diego
A largely active city, such as San Diego, is sure to bring limitless activities for you and your friends. From the beach during the day to the ever-present life at night, it’s nearly impossible to have a bad time. This suggestion isn’t limited to only San Diego, but also other beach cities where the surrounding area can bring a similar excitement. Whether you drive or fly, a five-day visit to the beach can rejuvenate just about anyone.
3. New York City
The most bustling city in the US (also known as the city that never sleeps), NYC has a multitude of opportunities to try something new. There are various places to sightsee, museums to interact with, and different food places to try. From Times Square to the Upper East Side, NYC has many faces that can be explored thoroughly, and it is inconceivable that someone could ever get bored there. Elise Doty (12) exclaims, “I’m going to NYC for my senior trip, and I am so excited! It’s probably what I’m looking forward to the most this summer.”
4. Caribbean Cruise
Moving towards larger-scale alternatives, this multi-island adventure doesn’t fall short. People tend to move away from the possible confinement that comes with staying on a singular cruise, but these ginormous boats hold just about everything a person could imagine. It is as if one were standing on land. Additionally, there are more destinations available to visit all in one trip, even more packed into a week.
5. Tour of Europe
With a multitude of countries to visit, Europe is an awesome place to travel overseas that is not only rich in history but also in different cultures. Although the flight is by far the longest, the experiences you make here may be the most unique. From the Parthenon to the Big Ben, the options of exploration are quite expansive. Transportation between each destination isn’t as difficult as one would believe it to be, a pro that can’t be passed up.
No matter how you celebrate the huge milestone that is graduation, it is important to understand all that you have accomplished. You should be proud of yourself for all your hard work and trust that you will find even better in your future. Don’t be afraid of what the future holds; be excited. You’re almost there, and you deserve to reward yourself for that.
