Club Rush is coming back to campus for a second time this year, presenting the opportunity to get involved and learn about new groups and their interests. This will take place next week on January 29th and 30th in the quad during lunch. During this time, students will have the opportunity to showcase their hard work that they put into the club. The members will highlight the purpose of the club through their advertisement which includes posters and items that have to do with their club or to give out to people. Club members will have this time to encourage others to join and to answer any questions students may have.
Mckenzi Reiter (12), commissioner for clubs, shares, “There are so many clubs that our school has to offer, there is something for everyone!” Club rush is a great opportunity to get connected with those you go to school with and find others that have the same interest as you. Attending Club Rush can help students build friendships and become more engaged at school. A couple of clubs include Finance Club, a place to learn more about the business world and gain knowledge about handling finances. Another active and impactful club is The Bee Society, “a group where students can channel their creative talents to create crafts through different artistic mediums and fundraise for nonprofit special causes.”
Students involved in the club are exposed to real world opportunities where they can collaboratively practice creativity and make a positive impact. Another great club offered is Play it Forward, a group that collects unused/unwanted sports equipment and later donate it to students/players in need. Started by two YLHS athletes, their club is helping other aspiring athletes to be able to participate, regardless of financial obstacles. Through their simple actions, the club is making a meaningful impact and giving back to the community.
There are also many other clubs that range from a variety of topics. Morgan Spillane (11), also a club’s commissioner at YLHS, shares, “There is truly a club for everyone, you would be surprised at the wide range of topics they cover.” Certainly, from Fashion Club, a creative space to share one’s love for fashion, to Bbq Club, a group that finds joy in the act of barbequing.
All in all, there are so many benefits to joining clubs. Doing so helps find people while also learning new things. Clubs help students build connections, develop skills, and make the most of their high school experience. You won’t want to miss out on the opportunity of club rush next week, January 29th and 30th in the quad during lunch.
