You know what the new year means. New Years Resolutions to save money, to not buy more books. But look at a few of the new ones coming out in 2026:
– Broken Dove by Dani Francis
– Rites of the Starling by Devney Perry
– The Wretched Divine by Adalyn Grace
– Victorious by V.E Schwab
– Release Me by Tahereh Mafi
And those are only the ones already announced in January. There’s no telling what other authors might surprise us–but there is hoping. Jasmine Moawad (10) says, “I can’t wait to know all about the ballad and what happened in the Once Upon a Broken Heart universe,” referring to the long-awaited Stephanie Garber novella that has yet to receive an official release date. Either way, let’s go over some of those new books.
1. Broken Dove by Dani Francis (May 5th, 2026)

Broken Dove is the sequel to the dystopian Silver Elite, which came out during the summer of last year and caused a stir with AI allegations. The first book follows Wren Darlington, a Modified forced to enter a military training school for soldiers determined to hunt her kind. Along the way, she battles an attraction to her officer Cross Redden, who also happens to be the son of the Commander, a man pledged to eliminate all Mods. Broken Dove will pick up where Silver Elite, which was billed as The Hunger Games with spice, left off.
There are various special and normal editions of Broken Dove with a multitude of special features such as sprayed edges, illustrated endpapers, and printed dust jackets. The first editions, available for preorder at Amazon ($29.36), Target (29.36), and Barnes & Noble ($29.99). A signed edition is available at Barnes & Noble for $32.99 and a Target special edition featuring Target-exclusive sprayed edges and an author Q&A is priced at $23.09.
2. Rites of the Starling by Devney Perry (April 7th, 2026)

Shield of Sparrows, the first book in this series, came out almost alongside Silver Elite and was part of the craze during the summer of 2025. To my knowledge, Shield of Sparrows follows a princess forced into an arranged marriage for the sake of her kingdom, only to venture out on a quest across a cursed land to save her family. Its sequel, Rites of the Starling, will reveal more secrets about main character Odessa’s past, and continue her twisty story.
As of right now, there are no special editions available besides the first print run of Rites of the Starling, which includes special sprayed edges that match the cover. On Amazon and Target it goes for $23.09, while on Barnes & Noble it’s priced at $27.99.
3. The Wretched Divine by Adalyn Grace (October 6th, 2026)
This new romantasy by Belladonna author Adalyn Grace is about a world of demons and angels. Main character Aurelie, a knight whose first kill will grant her a bond with an angel, is forced to bond with a demon as well. As she explores these new connections and navigates the ongoing war plaguing her lands, she might uncover something that changes her perspective forever…
Not much has been revealed about special editions and covers for The Wretched Divine, but it is still available for preorder from multiple retailers. On Target, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon the book is out for preorder at $32.99.
4. Victorious by V.E Schwab (October 6th, 2026)
The last book in the Vicious trilogy, which began over a decade ago, is finally set to come out in fall 2026. Vicious was about two college students, Victor Vale and Eli Cardale, who pursue a dangerous experiment for their senior thesis. When the experiment gives them superpowers, they’re forced to confront their own morality.
It’s available for preorder on Amazon and Barnes & Noble for $31.99. Currently, there is no preorder open on Target.
5. Release Me by Tahereh Mafi (April 7th, 2026)

The second book in the New Republic series, a spinoff of the ever-popular Shatter Me series, Release Me picks up after the events of Watch Me, the first book. Watch Me follows guarded, robot-like assassin Rosabelle Wolff and the lovable, self-healing James Kent. Rosabelle lives on the last island under the control of the corrupt Reestablishment, while James’ older brother Aaron and his wife Juliette lead the charge against the Reestablishment. When James enters Rosabelle’s island as a spy, things begin to unravel for both of them, and old wounds will be torn wide open.
One big attraction from this book is that unlike its predecessor, Release Me features the point-of-view of beloved character Aaron Warner from the original Shatter Me series. Brooke Holmer (10) says, “I’ve loved Tarereh Mafi for years and “Release Me” is on the top of my list to read! I can’t wait to read it and especially hear it from Aaron Warner’s pov again!”
Release Me has many deluxe and standard editions. The standard editions can be found on Barnes & Noble ($21.99), Amazon ($17.59), and Target ($17.59). Deluxe limited editions, featuring designed endpapers, sprayed edges, and a foiled case cover, can be found on Target ($20.79), Barnes & Noble ($22.99), and Amazon ($20.79).
Now that you’ve seen some of 2026’s book releases, do you still think you’ll keep those money-saving resolutions?
