As the fall sports season comes to an end, we celebrate months of dedication, teamwork, and achievement across all programs. Every Mustang athlete who participated in fall sports showed their hard work on and off the field, which paid off with many victories and memories brought home.
This fall, Yorba Linda High School’s athletes competed across several programs: Football, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, Song and Cheer, Women’s Volleyball, Men’s Water Polo, Women’s Tennis, Women’s Golf, and Women’s Flag Football. With the season coming to a close, it is important to recognize the athletes’ accomplishments, as they spent most of their time dedicated to these sports and proudly representing Yorba Linda High School.
Yorba Linda’s football team set the tone for the fall with an outstanding season that led them to win the league and move into playoffs, with their CIF Round One game this Friday, November 7th. The first game was one to remember, as the players took home a win while playing at SoFi Stadium. This opportunity became a core memory for the players, as senior Ryder Hezmalhalch (12) shares, “Playing at one of the best football stadiums in the world was an experience I’ll never forget and will always be grateful for; it gave me chills.”
Without a doubt, with a streak of 9-1, the Mustang football team dominated the season and is ready to keep doing so at the Division 2 CIF Playoffs. Similarly, the women’s flag football team carried that winning energy throughout their own season, showing determination and teamwork in every game. Junior Reese Wehner (11) shares, “I loved this season with my team; we always worked hard and had fun at the same time.” It was clear how closely the team supported one another, both on and off the field.
On the court, women’s volleyball battled through a busy league schedule, showing resilience and unity throughout the whole season, from the start-up until making it to CIF. Similarly, men’s water polo also made it to CIF and had a season filled with hard work and strong brotherhood. Moving on, women’s tennis had an impressive season, displaying both individual talent and strong teamwork chemistry.
Player Sophia Dumistrascu took home the victory in league individual singles, proudly representing YLHS with dedication throughout the matches. The cross-country team continued with the same drive of the fall sports, racing through tough courses and showing Mustang perseverance every mile. With much dedication, the Lady Mustangs were able to earn the league champion title. This achievement reflects their consistent effort, teamwork, and determination.
This fall season was filled with unforgettable moments, strong commitment, and notable successes. Yorba Linda High School athletes demonstrate skill and dedication on and off the field. Although not always easy, Mustangs never fail to be resilient and keep their head in the game. No matter the sport or the score, Mustangs continue to represent YLHS with pride, power, and heart.
