After nearly a decade, Disney is finally bringing fans back to the city where “anyone can be anything.” That’s right—”Zootopia 2″ is officially on the way, and fans everywhere are already counting down the days until it hits theaters on November 26, 2025.
When Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed the sequel last year, the internet practically exploded with excitement. People who grew up with Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are thrilled to see them back on the big screen, and maybe even solving another wild mystery.
A Quick Recap: What Happened Last Time
The first “Zootopia” (2016) introduces us to Judy Hopps, an ambitious bunny who became the first bunny police officer in the city of Zootopia. With the help of Nick Wilde, a sly fox with a soft side, the two eventually uncovered the truth behind predators mysteriously going savage, proving that teamwork and empathy can overcome prejudice.
By the end, Judy and Nick had formed a strong friendship—and Nick even became a police officer himself!
What We Know So Far
The sequel is set to release on November 26, 2025, with Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman returning as the voices of Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. A new character will also join the story, a mysterious snake named Gary De’Snake, voiced by Ke Huy Quan. The movie will take audiences to new areas of Zootopia we’ve never seen before, possibly including a reptile district or desert zone.
Shakira is also returning as Gazelle, performing a brand new song called “Zoo” with Ed Sheeran and Blake Slatkin. The teaser trailer hints that Judy and Nick are now full-time partners in the ZPD, and this time, their latest case might be even more dangerous and bigger than before. Shaan Jansen (11) states, “I loved the first ‘Zootopia’ when I was a kid, so I’m interested to see where the story goes next. It feels like Disney is bringing back all the good stuff we grew up with.”
Fan Theories Are Going Wild
Fans online are already guessing what the story could be about. Some think the new snake character might be the villain, while others believe he is misunderstood, just like Nick was in the first movie. Another popular theory is that Zootopia will face new issues now that reptiles are part of the city, which could bring new messages about acceptance and diversity.
There is even a rumor that Judy might be questioning her job as a cop this time around, while Nick becomes the one keeping her motivated. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the trailer hints at more action, deeper themes, and plenty of humor.
Why Everyone’s Excited
The first Zootopia won an Oscar and became one of Disney’s most-loved modern films, thanks to its smart story, funny characters, and meaningful themes. It tackled big ideas, like prejudice and equality, but made them fun and relatable for all ages.
Students are especially excited to see what Disney will do next. “I think the sequel will live up to the first Zootopia because Disney usually has really good sequels,” said Rebekah Montalvo (11). “The animation looks amazing already, and I can’t wait to see Judy and Nick back together again.”
Whether you loved the original for its adorable animals, emotional moments, or catchy Gazelle tunes, Zootopia 2 looks like it is going to have something for everyone.
Grab your pawpsicles and mark your calendars, because Judy and Nick are back on the case this November, and the city of Zootopia is about to get a whole lot wilder.
