Fall is a season of love and thanks. For many, fall is their favorite season, and it’s not hard to see why. Halloween and Thanksgiving are part of the reason why fall is so great, but what really makes fall so many people’s favorite season is the cozy activities that come with it. From watching movies to baking, there are so many fun things to do in this season that there won’t be a moment when you find yourself bored! When you think of fall, there are a variety of things that come to mind. Yet, when someone thinks of fall activities, getting cozy and watching movies is always the first thought. This is a classic fall pastime; everyone knows that this is the season where chilly weather and watching movies snuggled up in a blanket sounds like heaven. There are plenty of different movies that are perfect for this season. Maybe during October, you’re looking for a scary movie to watch. Well, movies like “It” or “The Conjuring” are perfect for this! If you’re looking for a fun Halloween movie, then “Hocus Pocus” or “The Nightmare Before Christmas” are perfect! These are some more light-hearted options that still have the fall vibe people crave. Other great fall movies and shows include “Gilmore Girls”, “It’s the Great Pumpkin”, “Charlie Brown”, “Coco”, and “Fantastic Mr. Fox”. Ms. Zywiciel (S) describes, “My favorite fall activity is cuddling under a big blanket on the couch while watching scary movies and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.”
Another great fall activity that is enjoyed by so many people is baking. Baking is a year-round hobby that many people enjoy, but something about creating a delicious fall treat makes baking in this season superior. Some popular fall treats are pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, apple crisp, cinnamon rolls, and apple cider doughnuts. Pahal Shukla (10) describes her love for baking fall treats, “Baking in the fall is the best! I love making churros with chocolate syrup, nothing screams fall like baking. It just makes me feel so cozy and happy”. So, throw on some festive music or a fall movie, gather your ingredients, get that apron on, and prepare for a fun night of baking that ends in delicious treats!
In October and November, people fill their houses with pumpkins, but the best of these are the carved ones. Pumpkin carving is a great activity that allows you to showcase your creativity and artistic skills. There are no rules when carving a pumpkin; it is a great way to turn your brain off and just let your creativity flow in the form of carving. Isha Arya (10) explains, “Carving pumpkins is what I most look forward to when fall approaches. It’s always fun to see what people think to carve on their pumpkins.”
Corn mazes are another staple of the fall season. Fall is harvest season for corn, which explains why there are so many corn mazes during this season. Farmers who grow corn take advantage of the supply and create a maze out of it for you and your friends to enjoy. These mazes can be long or short, so no need to worry about being stuck in one for hours. Aside from this, there are always people ready to help you exit in case you are truly lost or have just given up. Lina Lin (10) explains, “I love going to corn mazes with friends because I enter the maze knowing maybe the basics about them, and exit knowing much more about them, like if they are good under pressure”. It’s a good thing the corn harvest is in the fall because imagine running through the corn maze while it’s 90 degrees outside. Fall is definitely the best time for activities like this. Fall is the season to spend time with friends and family. Whether that’s watching movies, baking, carving pumpkins, or attempting a corn maze, fall is full of fun for everyone to enjoy. There are so many more fall activities that exist everywhere, so even if these activities don’t call out to you, there is definitely something out there that will!
