Have you noticed all the new releases on Netflix? A huge wave of new releases has drowned my feed on Netflix. From love stories to real-life documentaries, there is something for everyone. I decided to take a further look into a few to compose a list of films you can add to your watch list. Make sure to remember these titles for your next night in, where you might feel as if you have nothing to watch.
To start us off, we have Honeymoon Crasher, a rom-com starring Michele Laroque and Julien Frison. You will be laughing throughout, but there will still be heartfelt moments that leave the watcher with a lesson about family. This French movie starts off rocky, with the protagonist Lucas being left at the altar, and also being left with a luxurious honeymoon with no bride to go with. This circumstance leads Lucas to go with his mom, Lilly, and sets the stage for uncomfortable but funny experiences. Mckenzi Reiter (11) says, “My mom and I couldn’t stop laughing while watching this movie!” The two learned a lot about each other and themselves throughout the trip, and in the end, their family bond is strengthened. If you are looking for a laugh with a lesson, this movie is for you!
Next up is another rom-com, titled La Dolce Vita, that holds first place on top ten movies on Netflix right now. Protagonist Olivia decides to buy a home in Italy for the low price of a euro, and in an attempt to stop her, her father, Eric, travels to her. His attempt to stop his daughter turns into him finding unexpected happiness on his trip. Junior at YLHS, Hope Edwards (11), shares, “I loved watching this with my friends over the weekend!”. The air is filled with romance, beautiful food, and an enjoyable ambiance. You won’t want to miss this one!
Finally, for a different vibe, there is the thriller action movie Aftermath. As much as this movie could be characterized as violent, it won’t fail to make you laugh, with jokes entangled through the action. This movie involves a hero who saves the lives of many, including his sisters, on a bridge after it was hijacked by a terrorist group trying to prove a point. The protagonist, Eric, a former army ranger, must prove his skills in order to stop the group from causing any more harm.
