On March 28, eager Yorba Linda High School students woke up and drove to Anaheim with one thing on their minds–Disneyland. Both the business classes and associated student body were offered the chance to go to Disney this year for bonding and/or workshops. While many were very excited for rides there was also a lot of talk about what food people wanted because Disneyland is renowned for interesting and tasty treats. “The Happiest Place on Earth” is home to not just fun rides but also fun and delicious meals, drinks, and sweets and Yorba Linda students sure put this to the test on their visit.
Starting off strong, August Stys (12) and Kaitlyn Jamison (12), tried the cinnamon roll pretzel. The delectable treat is more a simple pretzel, but it is a sweet, warm, and unique treat. Topped with cinnamon and sweet drizzle, this treat was a perfect way to start the morning and the two ASB students rated it a 9/10.
Next was the mac and cheese bowls, which multiple students tried. This meal is complete with curly noodles and perfect cheesy creaminess in a perfect round sourdough bowl. Ultimately this Disney food was rated a 7/10 by YLHS students.
ASB headed to California Adventure after spending the morney in the disneyland park. After riding the Incredicoaster and Guardians of the Galaxy, the Yorba Linda Mustangs were ready to eat again and headed to San Fransokiyo. Ethan Lee (12) tried the teriyaki chicken for lunch while Casey Cho (12) and I tried the Saki Udon noodles. I decided to rate the noodles a 9/10, the noodles were thick and delicious and it also felt like a fairly healthy meal because it was sprinkled with vegetables. The teriyaki chicken also earned a 9/10 from Ethan because of the delicious balance of chicken, rice, and veggies.
Next, I decided to go visit some students from the business class and get their opinions on the Disneyland food selection. Lauren Urquico (12), Jennalyn Urquico (12) and Faith Alam (12) both tried the jumbo quantum pretzel, ultimately giving it a 8/10. They also tried the tik tok famous birria tacos from California Adventure and gave them a 8.5/10. Faith and Lauren both tried the popping particle punch drink which they really enjoyed. It was a delicious soda with pineapple flavoring and pop rocks, which ended up earned a 9/10. Their fellow business classmates Phillip Hawkins (12) and Hayden Hayes (12) would not stop talking about the turkey legs they tried. Phillip said “they were really salty and jumbo” and the two ultimately rated them a 7/10 and a 7.5/10.
While most of these foods were successes for Yorba Linda students, there was also some food that fell short. While Mylie Brown (12) and Natalia Soto (12) both found the Disney pickles delicious, sophomore Leighton Werner (10) was not as satisfied. She said that she was .
Amidst all these delicious treats and savory foods, Yorba Linda students had an amazing culinary experience throughout their Disney day and were extremely grateful for their experience. Almost all the foods received a ranking of 7 or higher, so I think it is clear that Disney is perfect for foodies.
