This summer, a great deal of new movies and seasons of shows, including the long awaited conclusion to the The Summer I Turned Pretty TV series, are coming out. In this article I’ll compile a list and an overview of some such movies and seasons.

1. The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 (July 16th, 2025)
Based on Jenny Han’s The Summer I Turned Pretty book series, this show follows Isabel ‘Belly’ Conklin as she reunites with childhood friends Jeremiah and Conrad Fischer just before her sixteenth birthday. Belly has always had a crush on Conrad, but he’s never seemed to pay her much attention. Until this summer, in which both Conrad and Jeremiah begin to show an interest in her (Myriad Inklings).
With two seasons already out, longtime watchers have followed Belly as she navigates her newfound love life with the brothers. In this finale, we’ll finally be able to discover who will end up being her boyfriend at the end of all the drama (Rolling Stone).
2. Ginny and Georgia Season 3 (June 5th, 2025)
This series is focused on the titular mother-daughter relationship between Virginia (Ginny, the daughter) and Georgia (the mother) upon which Grace Acevedo (9) remarks, “She (Ginny) doesn’t appreciate her mom”. In their new town, Georgia, who’s always had to fend for herself after leaving her abusive father, tries to make a new name for herself. And Ginny, who’s been moved from place to place with Georgia’s whims, has to come to terms with the fact that this time, she’ll fight to stay in the town she’s begun to call home before she’s forced to leave it again (Rotten Tomatoes).
In the finale of the second season, we were left off on a crazy cliffhanger that had many staring at their TV screens. In this next installment of the series, we’ll get to see the aftermath of the cliffhanger and how normal life will go on for Ginny and Georgia–if it still can (Rolling Stone).
3. How to Train Your Dragon Live Action Movie (June 13th, 2025)
This movie, a live-action version of the animated original, follows Hiccup, a Viking living in a world of dragons, as he tries to find his way in the Viking hierarchy. The son of a chief but possessing none of the characteristics a Viking noble should have, Hiccup often finds himself an outcast within his own society. That is, until he creates a friendly bond with the rarest dragon, the Nightfury.
Featuring a large range of loveable characters from love interest Astrid to funny side character Ruffnut to Hiccup himself, this childhood classic is high on the watch list of those who loved it as a child (Rolling Stone).
4. F1(June 27th, 2025)
Based on beloved car-racing industry Formula 1, F1 follows Sonny Hayes, a star car racer who suffered a career-ending injury, as he steps back into the driver’s seat. Alongside the struggling group that recruited him and the hotshot rookie that feels like a ghost of his past, Sonny has to come to terms with the fact that sometimes, “the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone” (Rotten Tomatoes). Jasmine Moawad (9), a certified Formula 1 fan, says, “I’m excited for the movie because we got exposure through the Met Gala and it became really popular. I’m also excited because I really enjoy F1 and watching it even though I don’t know all the details”.
Featuring a star-studded musical cast (Tate McRae, Doja Cat, Rosé, Don Tolliver, Ed Sheeran, Madison Beer, Raye, etc.), this movie is perhaps one of the most anticipated releases of the year for a multitude of audiences (Spotify).
Make sure to add some of these movies and shows to your watchlist this summer for some fun binging!
