With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the things and people that make our lives a little brighter. This year, The Wrangler offers a unique opportunity: a fundraiser where students can buy and publish gratitude messages to friends, teachers, or anyone who deserves a little extra appreciation. For a small donation, you can have your words of thanks printed in our newspaper, spreading kindness and support throughout our school and community.
Opening The Wrangler to see messages from classmates, teachers, or even yourself could easily make someone’s day. It’s more than a fundraiser, it’s a way to give thanks in a memorable, heartfelt way to those you love on campus. Write a short message to someone you are grateful for; it will be published in The Wrangler newspaper!
Gratitude is more vital now than ever. Gratitude isn’t just about saying “thanks.” It’s about stopping to recognize and appreciate the people and moments that make life feel fulfilling and meaningful. Studies show that practicing gratitude can help lift our mood, improve relationships, and lower stress. By making gratitude a habit, we bring positivity into our daily lives. Waking up grateful for those around us daily will bring life a deeper, more profound meaning and make each day something to look forward to.
Having a grateful heart not only impacts those you spread your thankfulness toward but also makes you happier. Whether it’s a simple “Thank you” to a friend for being there, or a note to a teacher who’s gone above and beyond, each message strengthens the connections here at YLHS.
This fundraiser also ties into the spirit of Thanksgiving, a time when we are reminded to count our blessings and reflect on what we’re grateful for. At The Wrangler, we wanted to make that spirit a large part of our school culture, with messages that capture the essence of gratitude and thanksgiving. Danny Martinez (11) says, “Reminding your friends and family you are thankful for them as often as you can is extremely important to maintaining strong relationships,” and I could not agree with this more.
By participating, you’re not just supporting our school paper but spreading love and creating deeper connections. Each published message is a little reminder that gratitude isn’t reserved for Thanksgiving alone; instead, we can share it all year. Taking part is easy. Each newspaper student has plenty of small gratitude notes for sale this fall! Each message is selling for $3, with all proceeds supporting The Wrangler’s efforts to bring our school stories, updates, and voices to life.
So this Thanksgiving season, let’s make it a goal to show our gratitude in a way that truly makes a difference. It’s important to realize that our words can truly make someone’s day, in unimaginable ways. You would be surprised how far a small note of gratitude could impact your and someone else’s life this holiday season.
