How the Scream Series Has Evolved
Ghostface, a character that has been around for over 2 decades!

Throughout the years, there have been many horror figures that have come and gone, yet Ghost Face is a prominent one that has been around since 1996.
The original Scream movie takes place in Woodsboro, California where a girl and a group of her friends become targets of a mysterious serial killer that dresses up in a Halloween costume (Ghostface). Scream II comes out the following year, and follows the main protagonist of Scream I as she goes to college. Ghostface comes back and attempts to kill her again. This series has been with us for almost 2 decades and has been one of the most popular Halloween movies! The release of Scream I made 137 million dollars in Box Offices! It has won multiple awards including MTV’s Best Movie award in 1997. Scream II made 173 million dollars in Box Offices the following year! Scream II won the MTV movie award in 1998 for Best Female Performance.
I have never seen any of these movies before, but I would definitely watch them again.

These movies are classics through my family, and every Halloween it’s a tradition to watch them. “Watching horror movies is definitely not my idea of a fun Halloween but Scream is definitely an exception to that” says my brother. If your family does not enjoy horror, then it is a perfect movie to watch with friends. Recently I binged Scream with a few of my friends and Alisha Bhavsar (10) says that “I have never seen any of these movies before, but I would definitely watch them again.” My other friend found it terrifying but loved it too!
Dhyani Balsara (10) says that “The movie Scream made me scream! I didn’t see the ending coming at all! We were trying to guess who Ghostface was the whole time and we all were wrong.”
Some people have the opposite reaction. For example Suhani Desai (10) says that “When I watch horror movies I just laugh throughout the whole thing at the people who are screaming.”
Horror is one of my favorite genres, and I enjoy watching movies like Scream with my friends and family. I normally am scared of the movie until it ends! The next movie in the Scream Series is Scream VI, which is coming out on March 10, 2023. Be sure to check it out in the theaters! If you haven’t seen the earlier movies you can watch those too online. Ghostface is back!
