It’s officially January, also known as the start of cookie season, which means it’s the start of girl scouts knocking at your door, cookie booths in front of stores, and binging on delicious new flavors of girl scout cookies.

This year the girl scout organization has launched a new flavor, the Raspberry Rally. The unique flavor has been described as a raspberry-flavored, thin crunchy cookie with a chocolate coating. “(T)he thin, crispy cookie infused with raspberry flavor and dipped in chocolate coating.” They may look like Thin Mints’® sister, but these cookies have a delicious taste that’s all their own. They’re sure to become a new favorite,” stated Girl Scouts.org.” Raspberry Rallys can be purchased online, according to Girlscouts.org.

“I’ve learned entrepreneurial skills and how to serve the community,

Along with the new cookies, Girl Scouts have decided to make a recent change to the prices of their cookies. The organization recently decided to make cookie prices six dollars this year. However, in many of their previous years, the price has been 5 dollars. What’s the reason for the new price change? Well, this year, due to inflation, prices have gone up since 2015. All proceeds from cookie sales go to your local girl scouts and their projects, including their gold, silver, and bronze award. Also, proceeds are used to maintain the girl scout center and the activities held there., as well as help pay the manufacturers and suppliers that make the delicious cookies that we look forward to every year.

What is Girl Scouts? Girl Scouts is a worldwide organization that teaches girls to be independent, entrepreneurial, and responsible for their goals. In this organization, many girls make bonds that stick with them from ages 5 to 50 or more… with their mentors, good friends, and community. They are also taught how to plan to achieve their dreams. Whether they want to raise awareness of climate change or climb Mount Everest. “I’ve learned entrepreneurial skills and how to serve the community,” stated Mikayla Wang (9), a current Girl Scout of eight years.

“Thanks to the Girl Scout Cookie Program, however, we’re changing that—girls as young as five are building business savvy that proves to be crucial to shattering glass ceilings through skills like goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics” stated GirlScouts.org.

So what is the difference between store-bought cookies vs. girl scout cookies? For many years, stores have created almost identical versions of girl scout cookies, however, for a lower price. Except, there is one difference between them, and that is that girl scout proceeds go towards helping girls finish their gold, silver, and bronze awards. These are the highest awards a girl scout can earn after completing projects that are sustainable, inspirational, and beneficial to the community, as mentioned in MahPacgirlscouts.com. Also, the girl scout cookies are going towards fundraising for the society and events to benefit the community.

Cookies will be available to be bought at the start of January 29th, 2023. Cookies can be purchased online at ABC intelligent cookies, an online girl scout cookie store where you can buy strictly online cookies, such as Raspberry Rallys, from the comfort of your home. Also, you can purchase cookies at booth sales outside your local stores. And lastly, the most iconic way of buying cookies is the door-to-door style. Cookie Sales will come to a close on March 12th, 2023.
