A thrilling show full of mystery and suspense, Riverdale has taken over the hearts of millions of teenagers all across the U.S. The show stars KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Casey Cott as Kevin Keller, and Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom. The first season is now on Netflix and Season two of the hit show aired on October 11, reeling in a whopping 2.33 million viewers which is about 60% more viewers than last year’s debut (TV Line). Grab a milkshake from Pop’s and get cozy because there was a lot of action that went down during the episode, so a recap is in action. This recap includes spoilers and the episode plot, so do not read the rest of this article if you have not seen the premiere yet.

The episode starts directly after Fred is shot by an unknown shooter at Pop’s. Archie carries his father into a car to drive him to the hospital because the ambulance was taking too long. Fred is rushed into the hospital and the viewers see a glimpse into his head. In Fred’s head, he imagines going to Archie’s graduation, but he is not alive to see it. Reality kicks in and Betty admits to her mother about her sexual interactions with Jughead, where Alice shuns upon. After that, Archie call Betty and the others about the gun situation.

Pretty much everyone at the school is at the hospital in support of Fred. Surprisingly, Cheryl shows up, not for Fred, but for her mom who has a burnt face from the fire in the season one finale. Cheryl acts very selfishly due to the fact that she wants to control her mom’s life. Veronica takes Archie home to get a shower, change clothes, and put away his dad’s belongings. Archie notices that his dad’s wallet is missing, so Betty and Jughead volunteer to go look for it at Pop’s.

Later on, Jughead and Betty go back to Pop’s and try to find some evidence about the shooting and to find Fred’s wallet. They had no luck in finding anything and Jughead opens up about how he is no longer living with his foster family, but is still living in his dad’s trailer while he is in jail. Betty becomes suspicious that Jughead is still hanging around with the Southside Serpents and Jughead denies it.

After that, Veronica meets her mom in the chapel and accuses her that she and her father sent the shooter to kill Fred. Hermione feels disrespected and tries to convince Veronica that it was not her (Entertainment Weekly). Meanwhile, in the hospital, Fred wakes up to Archie in the room talking to him about how much he loves Veronica. Archie promises Fred to always protect him no matter what. The incident makes Archie constantly have visions of the masked gunman during school and at home. He decides to stay up at night with a bat while his dad is asleep, so no one could hurt him or his family ever again.

Towards the end of the episode, the viewer finally meet Veronica’s dad, Hiram who has just gotten out of prison. The Lodge family acts very shady towards each other when Veronica arrives home. Then, the scene goes to Mrs. Grundy where she is murdered with a cello bow by the same masked man who shot Fred. The episode ends, leaving fans with a cliffhanger.

Excited about the second season, Priscilla Kim (10) states that “Riverdale is a show that is so fun to watch and it makes me come back every week for more.” Riverdale continues to entertain fans every week. New episodes air on the CW at 8:00pm on Wednesdays, so stay tuned for more suspense.
