OG Fortnite is back and players from around the world couldn’t be happier!

OG Fortnite is back! That’s right, one of the world’s most popular games is back to its old ways. Cue the nostalgia because it’s time to dive back into 2017!

On October 27th 2023, Fortnite announced that the original map and weapons would be returning via their social media platforms. The internet was overwhelmed with pure joy. Millions of players returned to their old favorite game after years. Their dreams of hopping back on the OG battle bus with their squad after years and years of not playing were finally answered. Time to dust off your old skins that have been sitting in your online locker for years and jump back into Fortnite! One student, Dallin Fried (12), says “I loved being able to play Fortnite just like how it was in 2017/2018. It was really fun!”

I mean, is there anything better than finally landing at Salty Springs another time, opening a shimmering chest and 3 minis and a golden scar popping out?! Thanks to Epic Games this dream was able to become a reality once again.

November 16th 2023, OG Fortnite was officially back and playable. This “new” season of Fortnite contained the OG battle pass showcasing spins on classic Fortnite skins. The pass also included amazing emotes, stickers, skins, and gliders. There was an overall positive reaction from all of the Fortnite commotion. “After the launch of Fortnite OG, the game experienced its biggest day in history with over 44.7 million players and 102 million hours played” (GAMERANT).

Sadly, OG Fortnite couldn’t stay forever. The season came to its melancholy end on December 2nd. The Big Bang event ended the season in a crazy way. The famous rapper, Eminem, gave a live concert in game! So many people wanted to get their final goodbyes in during this event. So many in fact that “Fortnite had to shut down its servers after an overwhelming amount of players logged in to watch the second showing of the Eminem Big Bang event” (DEXERTO).

Bringing back the most “peak” Fortnite time was an experience enjoyed by millions. Finally getting back into your OG squad one last time brought back so many happy memories. But have no fear – this time can soon be lived again as Fortnite has announced they will be bringing back the OG game mode once again; due to popular demand!
