Timeline: New York Highlights

Thursday, October 30th

Departing LAX Airport at 8 a.m., we landed in Newark Airport at around 4:30 p.m. Once there, we met with our tour guide, Beth, and loaded into a motor coach headed to our hotel. On the ride, we took in the fresh views of New York, which was colored in warm brown and orange hues typical of an autumn day. We ate dinner at Don Giovanni Ristorante, and then we ended the night by visiting the lively Times Square.

Friday, October 31st

Starting Halloween day on a good note, we toured the Museum of Broadway, learning about the history of the theatre world and seeing original pieces from iconic plays. Then, we visited Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral around noontime. In the afternoon, we walked through Fifth Avenue and stopped by the Winter Village at Bryant Park, checking out the shops and early holiday displays. After dinner at Bill's Bar and Burger, we returned to Rockefeller Center that night, skating under the city lights in our costumes.

Saturday, November 1st

We started the day at the Paley Center for Media, where we learned about television and advertisements. Later, we visited the iconic NBC Studios and had lunch in Chelsea Market before stopping at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery. In the afternoon, we walked the High Line, saw the Vessel, and explored Hudson Yards. We finished the night by seeing the spectacular Broadway show Maybe Happy Ending.

Sunday, November 2nd

We took a morning ferry headed toward Ellis Island, soaking in the views of the New York skyline and Statue of Liberty. After exploring Ellis Island, we headed to lunch before exploring the Financial District. There, we visited Wall Street, Trinity Church, and Federal Hall while also sightseeing the Brooklyn Bridge. In the evening, we toured the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, ate dinner at Little Italy, and ended the night with views from One World Observatory.

Monday, November 3rd

Our day began at Columbia University, where we attended a journalism conference with other students and learned about various publication topics from professors. Then, we walked through the breathtaking Central Park and spent the afternoon at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, taking in its many galleries and exhibits. We ended the day with dinner in Times Square before returning to the hotel.

Tuesday, November 4th

On our final morning, we checked out of the hotel and headed to Newark Airport for our flight. We landed in LAX at around 3 p.m. and said our last goodbyes, bringing our New York trip to an end.
