The months between Presidents Day and Spring Break seem to drag on endlessly; there are nearly two full months of school without any extra days off. Exams are getting more difficult, and the homework load is getting more unmanageable as the end of the school year approaches. Additionally, students are losing motivation as they become exhausted from the seemingly stretched-out school year. Most students will rush home on March 31st, the last day of school before Spring Break, and put their backpacks in the corners of their rooms where they will remain untouched until the day we return to school. As wonderful as it sounds to have a week-long break from your schoolwork, you will be overwhelmed when you return if you don’t keep up. For those of you who struggle to find the motivation to do your schoolwork, here are some tips to help you out.

One popular technique students use is to set goals and reward themselves when goals are achieved. It is nice to reward yourself after a difficult assignment is completed, and giving yourself something to look forward to will help you push through and finish your work.

Another method to keep you motivated is to stay organized. Keeping papers, books, and assignments in order will help motivate an individual to work. Not only will this help keep a person motivated, but keeping assignments in place will also lead to an easier, more successful school year.

Additionally, staying healthy will help maintain motivation. Exercise and nutritious foods improve your physical and mental health. Practicing these positive habits will help you stay focused and provide you with more energy.

Lastly, find support from your peers and friends. Some of the people you know are bound to be in the same, apathetic attitude toward their schoolwork. To keep each other accountable, you can meet up with a group of friends to complete schoolwork together. It’s going to be difficult to fight procrastination and an unmotivated attitude, but these tips will certainly help. I hope you all have an exciting, fun-filled Spring Break!
