How Does Climate Change Work?

Overhead electric transmission systems have caused various wildfires in regions such as Southern California, and is reportedly becoming more frequent with climate change.

For decades, climate change has been a constant problem. Different parts of the planet are heating up or cooling down rapidly. Climate change has a detrimental effect on life. If nothing changes in the next few years, the future of life is unknown.

There needs to be some background knowledge to know how climate change works. Climate change is when temperatures drastically drop or increase to a point where it is too much. The leading cause is greenhouse gasses, as copious amounts are pumped into the atmosphere daily. About half of the gas is consumed and stored in the ocean, while the rest is caught in the atmosphere. As the gas piles up, oceans acidify, and the air grows warmer. This poses a threat to life on Earth, as it makes it difficult to survive. This has become an enormous problem, as there have recently been reports of flowers beginning to bloom in Antarctica, a place where plant life is not supposed to thrive as it is too cold. The growing plants mean that the climate is warming up.

The gas acts as a blanket and traps toxic and hot fumes in the atmosphere. This has been a problem since the Industrial Revolution for almost 200 years. While there is still time to save our planet, not everyone knows about this issue. People have already talked about colonizing Mars or Venus as if no hope is left for our planet.

Reducing our carbon footprint is incredibly simple. One way to do this is to use solar panels from outstanding energy suppliers. I find this very practical, as my house’s roof is covered in them. They’re cheap, easy to maintain, and safe for the environment. Other simple ways are to reuse, recycle, and reduce. There are many small changes we can make that will have a positive impact on our planet. Sambhav Puri (10) says, “It isn’t that hard; we all need to make small changes.”

There is still time to take care of our planet. Ideas to turn trash into a clean energy source have been circulating and even implemented. By making small changes in our daily lives, we can save our planet and all its life.
