Listening to festive music during the holiday season is undoubtedly a pastime favorite for many. Nothing beats playing some Christmas music during the winter season while decorating the house and preparing for the most wonderful time of the year. However, what makes Christmas music, specifically songs, so special is how diverse and interesting the music can be. Some Christmas songs are upbeat and fast paced, while others are more relaxing with a nostalgic feel to them. That is what makes Christmas music so special: there is always something that someone can enjoy. What matters most, however, is what other people think of this kind of music and how it makes them feel.
From classic Christmas songs like “Jingle Bells” and “White Christmas” to newer songs like “All I Want For Christmas is You,” it is no doubt that all of these songs are an all time favorite for many. Some people tend to enjoy older songs, while others lean more towards newer ones. Here is what some students had to say about how newer and older Christmas songs differ from each other.
“Old Christmas songs are classic and iconic, and new ones sound more upbeat,” says Siao Yan (10) from Orange County School of Arts.

All Christmas music is amazing and unique in its own way, but personally I prefer the older Christmas songs, as they are more evocative and easy going to listen to. What is so unique about Christmas music and something I believe most people can agree on is how nostalgic it can be. There is just something so charming about the soft music and lyrics coming from older songs and the happy and outgoing feelings from the newer songs. It is amazing how music can have such a great effect on people, even if it is only simple holiday music. Christmas songs are truly something else and are a great way for people to celebrate together!
