On November 29th at 9:00 p.m., chaos arose and panic set in. At last the most anticipated movie of the year, Spider-Man No Way Home, had tickets on sale. Box office websites crashed on a global level, leaving fans, students, and teachers devastated at not bagging their tickets.

It would be entirely fitting that a Spider-Man movie could potentially be the first pandemic-era release to break the $100 million opening weekend mark (NBCNEWS). This movie has been predicted to “break the internet” for quite some time, with theories, ideas, and commotion circulating the internet for years since it was first announced.

The whole internet is fascinated with the possibility of their being 3 Spider-Men in this film. Rumors have been constantly popping up about this topic for years. The 2 Spider-Men that are fan-predicted are Tobey Maguire from the Sam Rami Spider-Man trilogy from the early 2000’s and Andrew Garfield from the Marc Webb Amazing Spider-Man movies from the early 2010’s. Although this is Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 3rd solo film in the MCU fans believe that he will be sharing the spotlight with his other Spider-Friends. This would mean that the MCU multiverse would be officially open, leading to endless possibilities of chaotic events.

People are determined to get to see the truth for themselves, leading to opening day pre-sales for tickets to crash the internet due to overload. While servers were down and feelings lower, determined fans took to Instagram Lives, Twitch, TikTok, and Facebook Lives. Chats and comments united fans across the world. Hopeful messages and favors were sent. Fans bought tickets for others since their servers were working and many spirits were lifted. Kindness and  cheerful news of sites operating again slowly spread as time passed. One student, Bella Saucedo (11), says “I actually was able to order my tickets after the sites crashed! I was lucky to be able to still get them after all the craziness going on.”

Some smart Spider-Man supporters took to the theaters themselves on opening day. The movie goers tried an old fashioned alternative to purchasing their tickets. They waited until the ticket sales started and grabbed a pair of physical tickets to ensure that they would not miss out on this opportunity of a lifetime.

Eventually, websites and apps loaded, but this was different for every individual person. Some experienced multiple hours of delay while others experienced only a few.

Sites are back up and running currently. Local theaters may still have some available showtimes left! Make sure to snag your tickets and prepare yourself for one of the biggest movies of all time, Spider-Man No Way Home!
