Ever wonder what happened to the artists who gained recognition on their albums widely known back in the early 2010’s? Absent artists come back to life on the edge of 2016 with advanced and engrossing albums. Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, and Alicia Keys are making a comeback, as they have laid out their plans for newly released music.

1. Joanne by Lady Gaga

After a long break from music, people doubted that Lady Gaga would actually return with a new album. After a successful, jamming release of Artpop (2013) and having that hit the top charts, this phenomenal musician decided to take a break for about three years. However, in her unexpected comeback, the new release of her album consists of beats with a slight country tone to it, while a few others featured on the album are evolved pop tracks similar to her previous album’s songs. The genre and feel of her new album can be described as a range from boot-tapping country bops to heartbreaking, acoustic melodic songs. Many believe that this album may be her most mature yet (Entertainment Weekly). Derick Ma (11) expresses, “I am absolutely in love with Joanne, and I believe she did an amazing job shifting the direction of her music and creating an LP that is personal, inclusive and universal. I admire her ability to draw influences from folk, country, rock, dance, and reggae, pop, and funk to make a fulfilling album.” He then adds, “It’s more toned down than her past works, but just as lovable: the production, collaboration and artistry behind it are very well done. My favorite songs include Diamond Heart, John Wayne, Dancin’ In Circles and Grigio Girls.”

2. 24K Magic by Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars’ last album, Unorthodox Jukebox (2012), showcased his impressive musical range, vocals, and unique style of music; however, he has returned with another new album which will not be released until November 18 of this year. None of the tracks are yet to be named, but his new hit single might give off a taste of what this upcoming album will be like. The single “24K Magic,” which is enlisted as the album’s title, emits a feel-good and dancing mood to listeners. He surely is improving his content with his different sounding tunes.

3. Here by Alicia Keys

Her last album, Girl On Fire, was released back in 2012 and Alicia Keys has finally returned by coming back with a wild, up to date album. This new addition will be released on November 4, 2016. Many people may have seen her featured on “The Voice” as a judge and mentor for contestants, in which she spent part of her break from releasing music on this show. On the other hand, she released a single from her new album, called “Blended Family (What You Do For Love)” and this tune includes her traditional R&B/Soul beat to it. Surely, this shows how she may keep her same beats with minor improvements.
