Mini Frappucinos

The new Mini Frappucino: its unassuming size still packs quite the punch. Weighing in at a whopping 120 calories and 24 grams of sugar, the Mini Frappucino is still the healthiest size of all the Starbucks Frappes. Just for comparison’s sake, a typical Venti Frappuccino has 350 calories and 69 grams of sugar.

Yet while the Mini Frappe is exclusively available for the summer season of 2015, the other sizes(all of which are bigger) are here to stay. That means the Tall, the Grande, the Venti, and the Treinta will remain the dietary staples of those who regularly consume frappucinos.  The price is also very similar to the Tall, despite the Min’s diminuitive size. Starbucks says the Mini should cost about 20 to 30 cents less than a Tall.

So, even though the Mini is a better nutritional choice for people who already consume Frappucinos, how likely are people to regularly buy this new size if it’s still expensive and isn’t here to stay? Of course people looking for a change might find it in the Mini—to try something new—but this is no guarantee of regular purchase. Kolby Wagner(11) says, “I get Grande because the Tall isn’t enough; so the Mini wouldn’t be enough for me either.”

Despite these many factors, I decided to give the Mini a chance. Hey, it was the least I could do! And when I tried it, surprise surprise, I didn’t regret. Frappucinos have always been a favorite of mine due to their shake-like qualities, but their sizes have always struck me as monstrous. I guess that’s the whole reason for the Mini. Surprisingly enough, the Mini is the perfect size for a Frappuccino — so if you love Frapps, but can’t usually stomach a whole 12-ounce one, be sure to nab a cute, tiny one while you can. They’re only around until July 6, so act fast. Happy coffee-ing!
