Nikita Kheni, Photojournalist

Hey Mustangs! YLHS Arya Club invites you to join our first Holi ever! Come out with your friends and get ready to get colorful on March 28th from 12 to 3 PM in the senior parking lot. It is like a Color Run or Color Me Rad but without the running. Everyone gets a bag full of colored powder and is allowed to throw it at anyone. All you have to do is come wearing white and $5 in hand for admission. The event is open to anyone from any school.

A little bit about Holi:

Holi is the festival of colors, love, and the arrival of spring, celebrated during early March around the time of the vernal equinox which would be the first day of spring in the Western tradition. It has an ancient origin which dates back to the 11th century. Holi is connected to different Indian legends and their symbolic messages. The colorful festival bridges the social gap, lets go of discrimination, and renews sweet relationships on this day. It has also spawned events all over the world such as  Color Me Rad, a five-kilometer fun run in which participants douse each other with colored powder.
