Marvel’s latest installment Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania was just released on February 16th!

Fans have been worried about the direction of the studio ever since Avengers: Endgame. This movie was extraordinary to say the least. It took the whole world by storm, even earring itself the title of “second highest grossing film.” Many Marvel enjoyers have said that Endgame was the peak of the franchise and everything has been downhill from there.

Marvel releases their projects in thoroughly thought out phases. Phase 1 movies include: Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, and The Avengers. Phase 2 movies feature: Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Antman. Phase 3 includes: Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home. The latest phase, phase 4, contains the most content out of any past phases. These projects are: WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Loki, What If, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, Hawkeye, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Moon Knight, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Ms. Marvel, Thor: Love and Thunder, She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, Werewolf by Night, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

With all of these projects, the Ant-Man franchise is a fan favorite. The character quickly stole the hearts of viewers. From his first appearance in 2015, Scott Lang rapidly became known and loved by Marvel fans. From the witty comebacks, comedic sequences, heartfelt moments, and exhilarating fight scenes the two Ant-Man movies are a refreshing take on the average superhero movie.

Fans have been waiting for the third installment of Ant-Man since it was first announced in November of 2019! Fan theories have been speculating and rumors circling the internet for years about what the movie was going to offer. Well the wait is finally over!

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hit theaters this Friday! The movie was thrilling, funny, and hearts hit in all the right places. The reviews are in and Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a 51% saying “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania mostly lacks the spark of fun that elevated earlier adventures, but Jonathan Majors’ Kang is a thrilling villain poised to alter the course of the MCU” (ROTTENTOMATOES).

Fans opinions varied on the movie, some fan reviews are:

“This has gotta be the most split the critics and audience have been with a marvel movie ever. Common folk are loving this silly movie as they should” – Bjoenk (TWITTER).

“Saw #Quantumania today and it was a fun time at the movies. A mid-range Marvel flick, not great but not bad. Most interestingly, Kang was really good. I’m looking forward to seeing more of him as this phase unfolds” -Tim Hanley (TWITTER).

“FINALLY WATCHED #Quantumania. It was not that bad as everyone’s making it, It was weird just like first two Antman movies but on a more bigger scale, it’s not perfect but it was far away from bad and specially after Kang’s entry OMG. I really enjoyed it alot”- Kriyan (TWITTER).

One student, Sophie Johnson (11) says “I think the movie was okay. I wasn’t super impressed but it was still a good movie. I am looking forward to what’s next to come for Marvel.”

A common argument circulating among fans is that the villain, Kang the Conqueror, was not used to his full potential. In the comics, Kang was a super powerful villain and one of Marvel’s “Big Bads.” The film does not show the character’s strengths as well as fans were hoping for.

In conclusion, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was either a hit or a miss for fans. Opinions vary and the movie is being talked about to say the least!
