It’s that time of the year when students give special recognition and thanks to their teachers! Teacher Appreciation Week is where students give their teacher thanks through gifts or words of admiration! You might notice something interesting aboutabout how Teacher Appreciation is celebrated at Yorba Linda High School! Every teacher at Yorba Linda gets a hand-painted and highly decorated door for the week!
These doors often feature hobbies or fun things the teacher loves, but can also include something about their subject and what they teach. ASB spends around two weeks creating these doors for the teachers, and the effect of these teacher doors is a brightening impact on campus. Hand-painted artwork on large paper taped to the door might not seem important or influential, but that is actually not true. Many students and teachers adore this tradition and look forward to seeing the custom creations. Yorba Linda High School student Naina Brar (11) says she “loves walking by all the teacher doors every year! They show so much of every teacher’s personality and brighten up walking into class every day!”. It is truly such a small feat to make these decorations every year when you consider the impact they will have.
Through this approach, every teacher can be given a special thanks, which feels genuine and real. A lot of time and effort goes into the planning and creating these doors, such as measuring the doors and paper, painting designs, and hanging them up. Seeing everyone’s reactions makes the work put into the teacher doors worth it!
It is such a unique approach to teachers’ appreciation week, and it truly shows Yorba Linda’s admiration and respect for the staff! While it may not seem that important during the week, these little thank yous make a huge difference to teachers. Their hard work and dedication often go unnoticed, so giving them a special shout-out for all they do can really make or break their week! Everyone likes to feel appreciated, so we must let our teachers know we appreciate them after they work their hardest to help us throughout the whole year! Whether it is Teachers Appreciation Week or not, let your teachers know you are thankful for them and what they do!
