With almost every senior at Yorba Linda now receiving their college email addresses and schedules, we can now take advantage of a ton of great student discounts. I decided to research and compile some of the best of these discounts along with some that apply to current high school students.
Clothing Deals: Many popular clothing stores offer student discounts, ranging from 10% to 20% off. Look at brands like Levi’s, Madewell, New Balance, and Nike, or some of your other favorites to see which offer student discounts. Oftentimes to receive these discounts you have to go through verification via services like UNiDAYS or SheerID. Yorba Linda High School student Hannah Jebelli (12) tells me “I have honestly been so excited to use all my student discounts since I received my UCR email address and just used it at H&M to get 20% off.”
Electronics: Apple offers educational pricing for students on Macbooks, iPads, and other Apple products. Additionally, stores like Best Buy and the company Lenovo have student discount programs or special deals during back-to-school season.
Entertainment: Streaming services like Hulu and Spotify have special student bundles with significantly lower prices compared to regular subscriptions. I recently signed up for this deal and got Spotify Premium and Hulu with ads for only $5.99 a month. Some local movie theaters may also offer student discounts on tickets.
Software: Students can access discounted subscriptions to Adobe Creative Suite, essential for graphic design, video editing, and photography projects.
Delivery Services: Food delivery services like Grubhub or DoorDash sometimes have student discount programs, so if you use these often, I would look into it.
These are just some of the top deals I found online. I would highly recommend looking into businesses where you spend the most and see if they offer any discounts eligible to you.
I also found some tips on making sure you can make the most of your student status. The first is to carry your student ID with you whenever shopping to take advantage of in-store discounts. Next is to keep your student email address handy, many stores offer student discounts when you verify using your “.edu” email address or other forms of student verification. Lastly, many colleges and universities partner with businesses to offer student discounts. Check your college website or student portal for a list of participating businesses, and definitely remember to always ask if a student discount is available before completing your purchase!
