“Betrothed. Betrayed. Destined for each other?”
That line is on the front cover of Lauren Roberts’ Fearless, the final book in the Powerless trilogy and one of many highly anticipated 2025 book releases. Some of these books, like Fearless, were announced months ago:
- Watch Me by Tahereh Mafi
- Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins
- Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros
While others are more recent and will be coming out in the later half of the year:
- Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson
- Wild Reverence by Rebecca Ross
But all find a place in this article, which will include the release dates, spots to buy them, and spoiler-free summaries of the books/the series they belong to.

1. Fearless by Lauren Roberts
Fearless is set to release on April 8th, 2025. It is the third and final book in the Powerless trilogy and concludes the romantasy series. Powerless, the first book of the series, follows main character Paedyn Gray who lives in a world of Elites–a superhuman species with powerful abilities that set them above Ordinaries. Only, Paedyn isn’t an Elite; rather, she’s an Ordinary pretending to be an Elite. When she saves the life of the prince of the Elite world, she gets swept away into the Trials–a deadly competition full of Elites she must find a way to survive. This addition to the booktok beloved series is said to follow Paedyn’s reunion with the prince she once saved, with the fate of a kingdom only she can decide, and with the ghosts she’s tried to escape.
Currently, this book is available for preorder on Amazon for $21.99 in hardcover and $12.99 on Kindle (Amazon). Additionally, the signed and Barnes & Noble exclusive versions, as well as the regular hardcover, are all $21.99 for preorder, although the signed edition is out of stock at the time of writing this (Barnes & Noble). The cheapest out of these three options has to be Target, with both the Target exclusive and the regular hardcover priced at $17.59 online (Target).

2. Watch Me by Tahereh Mafi
Watch Me releases on April 15th, 2025, marking a new chapter to the infamous Shatter Me series. This book follows James Anderson, younger brother to Shatter Me main characters Aaron Warner and Adam Kent. To understand this book, readers should first read the Shatter Me saga. Shatter Me describes asylum patient Juliette Ferrars as she explores her lethal powers and discovers that she is stronger than she ever thought she could be, of course with the help of witty side characters, a charming love interest, and an interesting plotline to tie everything together. Watch Me is the start of the next series in the Shatter Me collection, deemed The New Republic, and its next generation.
In terms of buying the Watch Me book, Target again comes in as the cheapest option, surprisingly being the most beautiful as well: the Watch Me deluxe limited edition, priced at $19.99 (Target). All three offer the regular hardcover for $21.99, and the deluxe limited editions are $24.99 at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

3. Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins
Set to publish on March 18th, 2025, Sunrise on the Reaping is the second prequel novel to The Hunger Games series, the first being The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. The original series, The Hunger Games, followed Katniss Everdeen and her mission for survival, and then, when it becomes clear that she may be the only one able to bring it, change for her district home. Sunrise on the Reaping instead turns time back decades, exploring a new set of games from the perspective of Haymitch Abernathy, Katniss’s mentor in the original books, while keeping the same extensive worldbuilding that got readers like Grace Acevedo (9) to say things like, “Dystopian all the way”, referencing the book’s genre.
This time, Target has a competitor for cheapest Sunrise on the Reaping copy, with both Target and Amazon pricing their copies at $19.59 for the original hardcover (Amazon) though Target also offers a $22.39 Target exclusive (Target). Barnes & Noble offers both the original and the B&N exclusive for $22.39 (Barnes & Noble).

4. Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros
This release actually already happened on January 21st, 2025, coming as the third–but not final–book in The Empyrean (Fourth Wing) series starring Violet ‘Violence’ Sorrengail, the daughter of a war general turned dragon rider. This highly anticipated release actually sold out stores within 48 hours, and now has resold copies selling for over $100 (Resell Calendar). Jasmine Moawad (9), a reader who’s started the Onyx Storm book as well as read the other two books in the Fourth Wing series, says that she’s “really excited about some of the upcoming books. Like the ones that just came out at the beginning of the year were really good, so I have high expectations for these ones. And the authors created some pretty good books to start their series” referencing both The Empyrean series as well as other series mentioned in this article.
Barnes and Noble editions of this book include the deluxe limited edition ($32.99) and the regular hardcover (26.99). Target sells their Target Edition for $24.49, the deluxe limited edition for $19.78, and the regular hardcover for $20.98. Finally, Amazon prices their Onyx Storm editions at $20.98 for the regular hardcover.

Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson and Wild Reverence by Rebecca Ross are both newly announced, so they have less information on their releases than the other books, meaning their paragraphs will be shorter.
5. Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson
Not Quite Dead Yet is the seventh book written by Holly Jackson, who is acclaimed for her A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series. It’s a mystery about a woman determined to solve her own murder, by deducing who gave her a fatal brain injury leaving her with just a few days left to live (Goodreads). It’s expected to be released on July 17th, 2025, and does not have an official cover art yet.
6. Wild Reverence by Rebecca Ross
Wild Reverence is set in the world of Divine Rivals, author Rebecca Ross’s most famous work. It follows Matilda, a goddess from long before the time of Iris, the protagonist of Divine Rivals, who sprinkles her magic into the dreams of a mortal man named Vincent (Goodreads). Its release date is just after the beginning of the next school year, on September 2nd, 2025.
With these, among many other, new releases to look forward to, no reader will be without a touch of anticipation all year!
