This year marked the 20th year of the hit reality TV series from ABC: The Bachelor/Bachelorette. On Monday, March 14th, this year’s Bachelor, Ben Higgins, got down on one knee and proposed to season 20 winner Lauren Bushnell.

Everyone knows the drama that inevitable ensues on this show. Every week on Monday, for about 10 weeks, millions of viewers at home can tune in to see who gets the rose and who gets sent home. Everyone can see this, but what people cannot see, is what happens after the final rose ceremony? Here is what happened to some of the Bachelor and Bachelorette couples of the past seasons.

Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter from the first Bachelorette season have been married for almost 13 years and have two children together, son Max, 7 and a half, and daughter Blakesley, 5 and a half. Rehn was the first runner up of the debut season of The Bachelor, but managed to find love when it was her turn to pick her soulmate.

Ashley Hebert and JP Rosenbaum from the 7th season of The Bachelorette have been married for four years now. This past fall, they welcomed their first child, son Fordham Rhys.

Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried from the 9th season of The Bachelorette recently tied the knot this past summer. They were previously engaged since the season finale in May 2013.

Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney from the 13th season of The Bachelor have been married for five years and have a daughter, Riley Anne, who is two years old. Mesnick originally proposed to Melissa Rycroft on the finale of his season; however, he reversed his decision and asked Malaney for a second chance.

Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici from the 17th season of The Bachelor wed in January 2014 after meeting on the show in 2012.

Lacy Faddoul and Marcus Grodd from ABC’s debut spinoff series, Bachelor in Paradise, recently got married this past summer after getting engaged in September of 2014. Another happily married couple from this series is Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert, who met on this season’s Bachelor in Paradise and tied the knot this past winter.

Although these couples have managed to make love last after having their relationships thrust into the primetime television spotlight, some couples unfortunately did not maintain their relationships.

Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray broke up last summer. Prior Bachelor Chris Soules ended his relationship with Whitney Bischoff as well.

The most recent Bachelorette and Bachelor, Kaitlyn Bristowe and Ben Higgins, are still happily engaged. Kaitlyn and Shawn Boothe have moved in together in Nashville and are planning their wedding. They have been engaged for almost a year now. Ben and Lauren currently reside in Denver and are acclimating to their new life and planning their wedding (People).

Sidney Tran (11) stated that, “Ben’s season is the first that I have ever watched. But I love him and Lauren together, and I really hope they end up married.” Regardless of how successful this franchise has been, there is no denying that this series makes for prime television entertainment.
