Disney’s newest animated film, Encanto, breaks soundtrack records and sets the bar high!

Disney’s newest animated film Encanto has proved to be a huge success while making a positive impact! This fun musical stars incredible celebrity talents such as Stephanie Beatriz, John Leguizamo, Jessica Darrow, Carolina Gaitan, Diane Guerrero, and Maria Cecilia Botero. Not only does the film feature a great cast, but another reason this film has been such a hit is because of the talented directors and writers including Jared Bush, Byron Howard, and Charise Castro Smith along with the world-famous composer Lin-Manuel Miranda! 

“Encanto tells the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal-every child except one, Mirabel. But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family’s last hope” (IMDb). This unusual tale focuses on family unity and the impact each person plays within the family unit. The film teaches the importance of accepting everyone’s differences and embracing individuals for what they are. 

This movie has captured the hearts of many families around the world, especially after its release on Disney+ during the 2021 holiday season. The film features beautiful colors, interesting characters, and a beyond fantastic soundtrack. In particular, the song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” has taken the world by storm, passing many past iconic Disney tracks such as “Let It Go” from Frozen, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from Lion King, and “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas

This now household song has very quickly engraved itself into everyone’s mind and is constantly playing! One student, Kiara Melwani (10), says “Ever since I watched Encanto, We Don’t Talk About Bruno has been stuck in my head! I really like the song!” 

The catchy tune and relevant lyrics pull the heartstrings of both young and old. Disney certainly scored a hit when they produced “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” and the popularity is still on the rise. While the song’s title, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” indicates that no one is talking, nothing could be further from the truth. Right now, everyone is talking about “Bruno!”
