Best Christmas Movie From Mainstream Platforms
December 18, 2021
Christmas movies are one of the many joys that go along with this holiday season. Nothing is better than cozying up to a fire with your hot chocolate, watching one of these movies. But these moments can easily be broken with the wrong movie. So what is a movie worth watching? Through platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney Plus, there are enough great movies for you and the whole family to enjoy!
Hulu: Elf
Elf is one of the best Christmas movies in my opinion. It has everything a Christmas movie truly needs: romance, comedy, and of course, “Santa! Oh, my god! Santa’s coming!”(Hulu) Starring Will Ferrell, Elf tells a story of an orphan who accidentally crawls into Santa’s Christmas sack. Once Santa notices this, it is already too late, and the human (named Buddy) is raised as an elf. Years later it becomes very clear Buddy does not belong, so he sets out on a journey to find his biological father. Follow Buddy as he tries to embrace the real world and survive off the streets of New York!
Netflix: Just Friends
Chris Brander is a highschool student confessing his feelings to his best friend, Jamie Palamino. Unfortunately for him, she just wants to be friends, and Chris leaves town in shame – never wanting to return. Ten years later, now as a successful record executive and involved with a self-absorbed superstar, he returns. After unwillingly returning to his hometown during this Christmas season, he tries to win Jamie’s heart once more. Will he win her heart or will he just face more disappointment?
Prime: A Miser Brothers’ Christmas
“I’m Mister white Christmas, I’m Mister snow. I’m Mister icicle, I’m Mister ten below. Whatever I touch, turns to ice in my clutch, I’m too much”(Amazon Prime). As a child this was a favorite of my Christmas movies, and this song is stuck in my head even today. This movie is about two brothers who can’t seem to get along. Since they are completely different from one another, it is no wonder they do not get along. However, when Santa falls ill, they are set on the task to deliver all the presents on Christmas Eve. Will they succeed or will their fighting get in the way?
Amazon Prime: Santa Paws
Santa’s most faithful canine companion, Santa Paws, is in trouble. Children do not believe in the magic of Christmas anymore, so Santa Paws sends his pups to help save Christmas. Will they bring back the Christmas spirit, or will they let the real world take their magic away?
This movie is not just one of my favorites, but others as well. As stated by Kylie Tsai (10), “I especially love this film because it shows the magic of Christmas and hope and faith, that is why I think this film is the best movie on Disney Plus.”
What are your favorite Christmas movies? Have I mentioned any that piqued your interest? What movie interested you the most? Hope you have a happy holiday and enjoy your favorite holiday film.
