The iPhone 12 Debut!
October 10, 2020
Surprise, surprise! It seems like there could be another iPhone release as soon as this month! Okay maybe not so much of a surprise since Apple releases a new phone almost every year, but some of the newest hints released might be unexpected. Apple will be announcing the qualities of the new iPhone 12 on October 13th. While this upcoming drop is highly anticipated, many wonder if Apple is just trying to keep up with its competitors. We can only speculate so much, as Apple does not reveal many details before its official unveiling. Although, we do have some leaked information and improvements to discuss.
As stated on the website, The Verge, the design of the phone is going to be very similar to the previous iPhone 5, 6, and SE. The iPhone 12 would mock the flat edges and smaller phone look of the iPhone 5, 6, and SE. The new series is to be released sometime in the upcoming weeks. The new products include the iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Max, iPhone 12 Pro, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Each phone will have different features and appeals.
The phone options will come in three different colors – silver, space gray, and midnight green. Also, the phones come in different sizes starting with the Mini, which has a display size of 5.8 inches. The iPhone 12 Max and Pro have a screen length of 6.1 inches. However, the Pro will include a professional motion capability and a 10-bit color depth. Lastly, the Pro Max will stand at a whopping 6.7 inches.
The iPhone 12 Mini and the iPhone 12 Max both have a double camera, whereas the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro have a triple camera. The difference is a triple camera setup on smartphones improves the quality of depth detection found on a dual-camera phone. In fact, the triple camera can help to make your image more stable. In images, a triple camera can provide you with a wider view without having to step back a lot.
As far as the style, Apple is reminiscing and providing a flat edge look similar to the iPhone 5. Just like some of the features are pretty astounding; the price tag is also quite shocking. For the iPhone 12 Mini, the price range is between $649 – $849, the Max starts at $749 and gets as high as $949, the Pro ranges between $999- 1,299, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max comes in at a whopping price range of $1,099 – $1,399.
Is there much of a difference between the iPhone 5 and some of Apple’s more recent phones? When looking at the differences between the iPhone 12 and the popular iPhone X, you’d be surprised at how different these two phones are. Nowadays, no one blinks at the sight of a $1,000 phone, such as the iPhone X, and clearly, Apple does not think placing the Pro Max at $1,099 would make a difference.
Another advancement revolves around the newest expected microprocessing chip. In 2017, the iPhone X’s bionic chip, the A11, was announced as one of the fastest chips for any phone. Apple is expected to unveil a higher and more efficient chip in its newest iPhone 12 series. It is called the A14 chip. The A14 chip will do all the work of the A11, but even faster. As shown in Nanoreview, they formed some tests between the two bionic chips. They compared them based on their performance in these three categories: CPU performance, Gaming performance, and Battery life. In terms of the CPU performance A14 place at 94 out of 100 while A11 placed at 56 out of a hundred. As for Gaming performance, A14 received a 98/100 while the A11 received a 42/100. Lastly, the Battery life of the A14 chip was at a 94/100 and the A11 at a 60/100. Cleary just by looking at the statistics, the A14 performs better than the previous A11 chip.
Alexis Younn (9), voices her opinion on purchasing the new iPhone 12, stating, “I am not thinking about getting the iPhone 12. The iPhone 12 Max, Pro, and Pro Max all seem too big. I like the idea of smaller iPhones, but I don’t like the idea of owning it and trying to do all my stuff on the tiny screen.”
Based on these latest expectations, it is obvious why tech gurus have something to look forward to. There are going to be improvements to size, color, speed, and photo quality. However, with these anticipations comes questions, but until the official release, buyers will have to hold on to these inquiries and see for themselves if this new iPhone is worth purchasing. Until then, the suspense will only build, but the main question remains: Is the latest Apple product worth buying?
