Remaining for all four years of high college right up until graduation is very important for multiple social, commitment, and educational benefits. The purpose that school was set up for is to construct understanding year by year, making sure everything is available to help students before they head out for the real world. All the classes students take, are all in preparation for the next level of life, whether they go blue collar or the educational route. It is years and years of practically free training, which isn’t only educational but for social bonds and personal growth as well.
By staying on the same path taking all mandatory classes and even those that interest you and checking your boxes students are able to enhance their education on their transcripts (GPA). It is a sign of perseverance and patience. Colleges and jobs are more cognizant towards those who stay in high school as opposed to those who drop out or exit early. Even juggling many sports or jobs while working is better.
The social benefits of the total four years of high school are also very fun. There are so many activities seniors can participate in that help them get through their final months of high school. This includes Senior Breakfast, Senior Sunrise/Sunset, and Grad Night create lasting memories and offer an opportunity to connect with all the leaving senior class and celebrate. Christianna Hawkins (12) a student who also considered taking the exit exam states that now being in her senior year she sees “ attending graduation as a final marker that symbolizes years of struggle, learning, and connections, that you can celebrate with your second family.”
Senior year is also very important for strengthening relationships and friendships. All those shared experiences throughout this final year will allow all of your senior class to create life-long bonds. Also, connections made in excessive school, which could not have been formed in the shorter amount of school that you attend, may be critical to other possibilities for the future. Remaining in high college until that final walk on the stage in front of all your friends and family basically guarantees that students have a complete opportunity to grasp all the knowledge possible.
Extracurricular activities in the second year provide opportunities for leadership roles in any organization. Whether it is a club, National Honor Society, sports, or theater. These experiences help students develop confidence, organizational skills and a sense of responsibility. Seniors often help out those incoming younger students, which will benefit those kids plus enhance their leadership skills and enhance the students they support.
Senior year, the last year of high school- the final stretch is an important time for personal growth and self-discovery. Students can further explore their interests, develop their identity, and gain a better understanding of the goals they have for themselves. Balancing all the things you will eventually have to balance on your own without your teachers or parents teaches independence and better prepares more students for adult responsibilities.
All that being said, the decision to stay in high school for four years provides a well-rounded academic experience, valuable social networks, and important personal growth; however, if you find yourself being called to another place in life, something your passionate about, don’t give up on that either.
