As orange-saturated leaves fall casually across the busy streets of Yorba Linda, many students seek a soundtrack to get them in the fall mood. Creating the perfect fall playlist requires songs that represent the season’s mellow ambiance. Here is a curated list of songs that might just help you get into the “fall mood”.

“Sweater Weather” by The Neighbourhood. The title says it all. “Sweater Weather” is an anthem for fall. Its soothing indie-pop sound coupled with lyrics that evoke the warmth of cozy sweaters and the companionship of the season, is the perfect addition to any autumn playlist.

“Wake Me Up When September Ends” by Green Day. Green Day’s emotional ballad holds a special place in fall playlists. The song’s emotional depth and lyrics invite contemplation, mirroring the changing emotions that come with the transition from vibrant summer to the more somber tones of autumn. Anyone of any age range can enjoy this classic song and should consider giving it a listen before the season is over.

“Apple Pie” by Lizzy Mcalpine. Lizzy Mcalpine has recently grown in popularity, and she is the epitome of the fall mood. “Apple Pie” is a song about love and how it can travel with you wherever you may travel during the holiday season. All Lizzy describes that she needs is “city life, apple pie baked just right”.

“The Gold” by Manchester Orchestra and Phoebe Bridgers. “The Gold”, one of Phoebe Bridgers’ hit songs, has over 88 million plays on Spotify. This song perfectly sets up the image of a hill-covered landscape and a distant love slowly slipping away. Whether you are sad or not, this song is beautiful regardless.

“Pictures of Mountains” by Cody Fry. Cody Fry is growing as a popular artist; however, most people have only taken the time to listen to a couple of his songs. “Pictures of Mountains” displays the feeling of being alone so perfectly. Sometimes the holiday season can get lonely, and we all need a reminder that everything will be okay. Raven Hale (11) says, “I love Cody Fry so much. I have always been an original fan of his and want to introduce more people to the beautiful music he creates”.

As Autumn unfolds, curating a playlist to fit the mood is well worth it. The songs shown above display a wide range of genres and tempos to fit anyone’s taste. Now, grab a warm cup of apple cider, cozy up by the fire, and let this playlist envelop you in the fall mood.
