Every year, the Super Bowl isn’t just about the game—it’s also about the commercials. For decades, Super Bowl ads have been a big part of the event, and people often tune in just as much for the creative and funny commercials as they do for the game itself. Gabby Wong (10), for example, says that “I am a fan of Super Bowl commercials because they are often humorous and fun to watch.”

This year, Super Bowl LIX drew in 127.7 million U.S. viewers across television and streaming (NFL).  With such a high view rate, companies know that the Super Bowl is the perfect time to reach millions of viewers, so they make their ads stand out in a big way. Super Bowl LIX was no exception, showcasing some of the most creative and entertaining commercials of the year. From heartfelt moments to celebrity cameos, here were the five best ads from the big game.

Lilo & Stitch — “Stitch Runs Loose At The Big Game”

Disney’s very own Stitch from Lilo & Stitch took over the football field, making it to be one of the most memorable ads from the Super Bowl. Experiment 626 playfully runs around the field, causing chaos while people try to capture him. In a surprising turn, Stitch jumps into a cart and speeds across the field, eventually crashing into the flag post and then exclaiming “Meega, nala kweesta!” Krishaa Seth (10) reveals that “My favorite commercial during the Super Bowl was the Lilo & Stitch one. Stitch has always been one of my favorite Disney characters and this ad did such a good job of promoting the movie.” The live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch will be released in theaters on May 23.

Lay’s — “The Little Farmer”

Lay’s aimed to deliver a genuine message in their commercial, recognizing that their chips are already well-known. The 60-second clip focuses on a young girl on a farm, carefully growing and tending to a potato that eventually becomes the iconic Lay’s chip. With this heartfelt approach, the company emphasized its commitment to supporting family-run farms that provide the potatoes for their chips.

Nike — “So Win.”

Nike’s Super Bowl commercial this year marked its return after nearly 30 years, and it was definitely one to remember. Iconic athletes from women’s sports made appearances, including Caitlin Clark, Sha’Carri Richardson, Sophia Smith, A’ja Wilson, and Jordan Chiles, to name a couple. The commercial is inspiring to female athletes as it highlights the rage at being underestimated in sports: “You can’t win…so win.”

Instacart — “‘We’re Here’”

Instacart nailed it by bringing together a group of popular commercial personalities in one ad. From Mr. Clean and the Energizer bunny to Chester Cheetah and the Kool-Aid Man, this will have everyone hitting rewind to catch what they missed. It was also an excellent way to highlight the company’s mission of bringing everything right to your doorstep.

Michelob ULTRA — “The ULTRA Hustle”

“You can’t out-hustle a hustler.” This commercial was definitely out of the ordinary, featuring cameos from Willem Dafoe, Catherine O’Hara, Sabrina Ionescu, Randy Moss, and Ryan Crouser. Dafoe and O’Hara dominate the pickleball court as they round up Michelob ULTRA’s, making it a commercial you’re sure to laugh at. Who knew the Green Goblin and Moira Rose would team up for the Super Bowl?

Although most can agree Super Bowl LIX was a blowout between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs, the commercials definitely did not disappoint. As brands continue to raise the bar in Super Bowl advertising, one thing is clear—viewers will always expect the best when it comes to these legendary commercials.
