The topic of loving yourself and being happy with yourself is a touchy and tricky subject. Everyone in the world has a different way of loving themselves, but why is self-love so important?

Medical News Today talks about how perfectionists in life are more likely to struggle with self-love. Self-love is a struggle for most people because they are hard on themselves or are offended by words said by others. We all have a little voice in our head telling us, “we aren’t good enough,” “ you are ugly,” or “lose weight, gain weight.” We all have our struggles, but loving ourselves is the next step to being happy.

Self-love is not just about loving your body or how you look. It is the way you treat your body: eating enough food, not harming yourself, taking breaks from people who cause you pain, staying off your phone, and exercising.

Bottling up emotions is not a way to love yourself. Feeling emotions and accepting that not everything goes perfectly in life is okay. Acknowledging pain is the first significant step to self-love. Brain & Behavior states, “People who have more self-love tend to know what they think, feel, and want.”

Sadly, most people in our world today struggle with the concept of loving themselves. There are so many benefits of self-love and what it can do for you. It can give you self-confidence and self-worth and make you happy in all aspects of your life.

Finding love in yourself is not an overnight thing; it takes days, weeks, months, years, or even your whole life because loving yourself goes in waves. People need to have patience and be kind and gentle with themselves through the process.

Living life with love and being carefree makes people so much happier. When people are asked why they are so happy, they reply that they don’t care what anyone thinks. It shows that they love themselves so much that nothing else matters. Alex Jacks (10) states, “You can’t always rely on others to pick you up on the love that you don’t have for yourself. Therefore, loving yourself sets you up for many opportunities and success in life.”

Following that, loving yourself is the most important thing because you can only truly help yourself by having self-love. When you lack that, others try to fill the hole where self-love is lacking, and when they leave, the world comes crumbling down. You can be happy when you love yourself, whether with someone or by yourself. This is all why self-love is so important.
