As you may have already seen, an LA Chargers fan expressed every emotion during their game against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night (8/16). This mom was pumped to see Justin Herbert hit Gerald Everett to tie the score 17-17. However, her expression quickly changed after an interception was thrown to seal a Cowboys win 20-17. The stress for this woman was real, and everyone watching the game on TV could see it. She was quickly coined as “The Chargers fan of all time”, following many memes of her passionate expressions in the game.
However, you may be asking the question: who is she? She is not just a VERY intense Chargers fan, but she is also a mom named Merrianne Do. Her son, just a freshman, went home to realize his mom had blown up all over the internet. It is most definitely not every day you see videos of your mom everywhere on social media. “Ziggy” Pham (9), son of the viral sensation, shared: “It’s sort of weird that my mom went famous, but it’s interesting. I didn’t realize; but apparently, she went viral the moment she was on the big screen.” From just being a young student at Yorba Linda High School, his world quickly grew after his mom splashed the internet with her almost comical reactions on Monday’s game. His friends quickly grew interested in the video along with the rest of the world; Ziggy says “A lot of my friends know and make jokes about it, but it doesn’t bother me.” Isn’t it crazy that you could walk by someone and not know random facts like this about them? You don’t typically walk by someone with a famous mom in the hallways of your school.
From memes with the caption “When the gumbo is getting ready to be served” to “Me dying in Valorant but cheering on my teammates” The memes could go on and on. The chargers even acknowledged her, making the viral photo their profile picture on X. Her seconds on the big screen took quick fame, but people questioned the truth behind her excitement. She now lives in Orange County with her family, cheering just as loud, maybe louder, for the LA Chargers. From just being a mother from the small town of Yorba Linda, Merrianne Do has really earned her claim to fame. Merrianne Do is welcome any time to bring her spirit and energy to Yorba Linda High School’s The Stable, the student cheering section, during school games!

This was a really sweet story, and I was surprised at how her son goes to our high school. I also thought the picture was very funny.

I love that you were able to interview the woman’s son and ask him what it feels like to have a “famous” mom on the Internet. This article is very funny and interesting!

Her reactions are so wholesome and I love how you actually got to interview her son. This made her seem even more relatable since there is this real life connection.
