Yorba Linda High School is a campus radiating with both passion and purpose. One student who is the epitome of what it means to be a Mustang is Natalia Soto. As our Varsity Cheer Co-Captain, ASB Senior Class Secretary and Treasurer, and an ambitious student balancing the chaos of her schoolwork, part-time job, and extracurriculars, Natalia embodies the values that define our Yorba Linda High School community. Her commitment to excellence, leadership, and positively impacting our campus can inspire her peers and anyone who gets to know her.
As the Varsity Cheer Co-Captain, it is always easy to see Natalia’s bright smile at the forefront of the student section, rallying school spirit at our rallies and games. As she helps guide her team toward success, Natalia brings unmatched energy and dedication to her role. Yet, Natalia’s leadership on the cheer team isn’t just due to her technique but her undeniable leadership and pride for her team. Natalia states, “This year’s cheer season has been my favorite of the four I have been on the team. There is so much to look forward to for the rest of the year, but I am most excited to go to Florida this year and finish my senior year performing and competing with the best team and coach.”
Additionally, in her role as the ASB Senior Class Secretary and Treasurer – a coveted position elected by student vote – Natalia has taken on not only the crucial task of ensuring that the class of 2025 has a memorable and fun senior year but also managing her grade’s budget and organizing fundraisers for her class. Natalia works behind the scenes in the ASB room to plan all senior class events and plays a key role in planning this year’s Homecoming: A Night in the Bayou. Her meticulous attention to detail and collaborative mindset set her aside from others and represent the values our campus strives for. Natalia explained that she was “inspired to join ASB because [she] really love[s] being involved and felt like ASB would be the place for her.” Further, she stated that she thoroughly enjoyed planning all of the Homecoming events and hopes to host a class of 2025 fundraiser soon. Natalia feels that “joining ASB for [her] senior year was one of the best decisions she has made,” and she encourages underclassmen to join if they want to get more involved since she wishes she joined sooner.
Natalia’s leadership roles are not the only ways that she makes a profound impact on campus. As she balances cheerleading, ASB, rigorous academic classes, and a part-time job, Natalia can serve as a reminder to everyone that it is possible to do it all. Although being involved in many activities is no easy task, Natalia approaches it with determination and passion. Her ability to manage her time and prioritize ensures her success in each area of her life without compromising her performance. Her dedication to achieving the best grades she can while simultaneously excelling in her extracurriculars is a testament to her strong work ethic. Natalia shared that “at first, it was extremely difficult for me to balance everything going on this year, especially with college application due dates coming up. However, I’ve definitely found the balance that helps me maintain my grades, cheerleading, and work schedule. For others, I advise you to take each day by day and don’t over-stress yourself. In the end, everything will work out, so enjoy the opportunities high school gives you through balance and fun!”
Overall, Natalia is an extraordinary leader on campus and can serve as a reminder to us all that with the right motivation, we can achieve anything we put our minds to. Whether through her spirit on the sidelines at football games, her tireless service in ASB, or her everyday interactions with her peers, Natalia exemplifies the spirit and ambition Yorba Linda High School strives to foster. We are so excited to see where this year takes Natalia as we know her future is bright!
