With Thanksgiving break just around the corner, Yorba Linda High School’s halls will soon become empty as students and staff take a well-deserved week-long break. As we approach this time off, it is a great time to appreciate the hard work and commitment of each of our teachers and staff on campus, whose long hours and dedication throughout the year make our school the amazing place it is. We are thankful for every one of our staff members, and I had the chance to ask three wonderful and familiar faces what their plans are for our Thanksgiving break: Mrs. Vaughan, Mrs. Long Gallegos, and Mrs. Bourgault.
To start, Mrs. Vaughan is one of our mathematics teachers here on campus. She is adored for her kindness and dedication to each of her students. Her warmth and patience for each of her students help ensure success within her classroom. Mrs. Vaughan always has a positive attitude and remains sweet and considerate in her interactions with others. Mrs. Vaughan (S) shares she is looking forward to “going up North to Monterey Bay” to visit her son and spend time with their entire family at a lake house during Thanksgiving break.
Next up, many of us know Mrs. Long Gallegos personally due to her active involvement in all areas of our campus. As our school’s Activities Director, Mrs. Long Gallegos is the mastermind behind every YLHS event– whether it is a rally, dance, or more– and she works tirelessly alongside each of her ASB students! With her bubbly enthusiasm and hard work in each project she takes on, Mrs. Long Gallegos (S) is a key part of our Mustang community. Over this break, she will be going up to Northern California to visit her family for Thanksgiving. Furthermore, she states that during her time off, she enjoys “[playing] board games” and “video games” with her kids as well as “[watching] movies.”
Finally, Mrs. Bourgault is our attendance clerk and one of the lovely faces of the front office. Her warm and welcoming personality makes for a comforting presence in the office. As our attendance clerk, she interacts with many of us daily and never fails to make me smile. Mrs. Bourgalt (S) is excited about the Thanksgiving holiday as she is hosting her family at her home. Additionally, she explains that on the Friday morning of break, she will be leaving early to head up to Havasu, where she will be “Black Friday shopping and then going off-roading in the hills!”
As we each go off to relax for our breaks this year, we should all remember to thank our amazing staff who each contribute to developing our wonderful community here at YLHS. We are truly thankful for the work and effort they put in all year and hope that this Thanksgiving brings them relaxation and time to spend with their loved ones. So, if you want to show your teachers some extra thanks, take the time to go up to them and find out how they are spending their Thanksgiving break, and remember to remind them how thankful we are for our Mustang family.
