As we head into the fall season we begin to think of who and what we are grateful for. For many of us that could be our friends and family, or our homes and jobs. For the cheer and song leaders at YLHS one person that each and every person is grateful and appreciative for is our head coach –Stacy Shube.
Coach Shube has been coaching for over thirty years and has coached YLHS Cheer and Song since its inaugural year in 2009. Since then, Coach Shube –along with many other talented coaches– have led our teams to bring home several regional, state, and national champion titles. With the talented individuals on the YLHS Cheer and Song teams, there is no doubt that bringing home victories at rigorous competitions each year has become a tradition; however, without the guidance and mentorship of Coach Shube, the program wouldn’t be merely as successful as it is today.
From the late night football games to the early morning competitions and double day practices, Coach Shube never fails to bring energy and enthusiasm with a hint of discipline and urgency. Her dedication and hard work at practice never goes unseen. Just last year in Orlando, Florida, Varsity Song secured 6th place out of nearly 75 teams nationwide, while Varsity Cheer achieved multiple victories, including winning first place at the JAMZ Nationals in Las Vegas, Nevada. This year, Varsity Cheer will embark upon a new journey, traveling to Florida to compete in the advanced division. Surely, it will be a difficult task with multiple obstacles, as the cheer program has never competed in Florida, but under the guidance and discipline of Coach Shube, there is no doubt that progress will be amazing this year!
Varsity Cheer co-captain Natalia Soto (12) shares, “
Stacy is a great coach, her commitment truly reflects through our team. She not only has influenced my cheer life, but has positively made an impact on me as an individual”. Coach Shube coaches us in an upbringing manner that teaches not only success in terms of becoming a better cheerleader, but also ethical morals such as discipline, order, and confidence that reflect in our day to day lives.
To conclude, this fall season – and every season to come – Coach Shube is greatly appreciated. Her love, the hard work and dedication that she showers the girls with is something special that will forever be cherished.
