With flapping doors, falling sardines, and farcing material, Noises Off will be sure to keep you entertained. Our theater program is prestigious for our award winning productions, with Oklahoma winning “Best Musical” at the 2024 Spirit of the MACY Awards. This talented cast of Mustangs includes: Cosette McCulloch (12), Andrew Gardner (11), Jack Spillane (10), Addyson Shoup (12), Nathan Song (11), Katie Ruoo (12), Raven Hale (12), Carter Gaiss (11), and Matthew Folkin (10). Noises Off is a witty piece of playwright that was also turned into a movie starring Carol Burnett, Micheal Caine, and Christopher Reeve.
The three-act play takes the audience along through the duration of the London production Nothing On, directed by Lloyd Dallas (Andrew Gardner). The first act consists of the last dress rehearsal of the production and getting to know the actors, while also getting to see what Nothing On is all about. The play will star the one and only Dotty Otley (Cosette McCulloch) as Ms. Clackett, a sardine-loving housemaid for the Brents while they’re away in Spain. Then while waiting to sell the house, Roger played by Garry Lejeune (Jack Spillane) and his tarty coworker Vicki played by Brooke Ashton (Addyson Shoup) find it fitting to spend some “extra” time in it, but keep getting interrupted by strange noises. The noises belong to the homeowners Phillp and Flavia sneaking back in, attempting to avoid paying their taxes. The characters are played by Fredrick Fellowes (Nathan Song) and Belinda Blair (Katie Ruoo). However, conflicts are still evident when a Burglar appears out of nowhere, with the role being played by Selsdon Mowbary (Matthew Folkin). Even with its stops and mishaps, the humorous context keeps the audience enthralled.
The second act shows the audience the show from the back. But this time, tensions arise within the cast. The entire set rotates 180 degrees, and we see stage manager Tim Allgood (Carter Gaiss) and assistant stage manager Poppy Norton-Taylor (Raven Hale) struggle to keep the show together. The physical comedy and fast paced material is definitely something you don’t want to miss! Though, it all gets funnier in the third act; this time around, we see the show on its last legs. The actors all are tired of each other and now everything seems to be going wrong. From broken props, falling pants, and even falling people, we guarantee even the most stoic person will crack a smile.
Raven Hale(12) states, “I can’t wait for people to see the show! It’s definitely something they do not want to miss!” And we couldn’t agree more! Be sure to grab your tickets online while they are $20, because if you wait to purchase them at the door, they go up to $30. But it’s $15 for students and seniors. So mark your calendars to see Noises Off presented at the YLHS Forum from November 15-23. Visit ylhstheatre.org for tickets!
