It’s finally that time of year! The time where the leaves start to brown, college applications are due, and families come together to celebrate Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is one of the most wholesome times of the year, where people share their gratitude for each other over a delicious and filling meal. To top it off, there is an amazing pie selection at the end! Yet, what is the best traditional Thanksgiving pie? A warm decadent apple pie? Or a cold satisfying pumpkin pie?
Well to start, the more traditional of the two would have to be pumpkin pie. Pumpkin pie represents the changing of the seasons and it is estimated that around 50 million pumpkin pies are eaten on Thanksgiving day alone. Yet, apple pie brings something else to the table. Apples are in season in fall, and the tartness of apple is more enjoyable than the bland taste of pumpkin.
In the fall season, pumpkin is used in almost every sweet or dessert. Apple is not used as much during the fall season, and it is understated. Apple pie is highly underrated during thanksgiving time, and should be taken into consideration. Pies are generally supposed to be served warm, and pumpkin pie completely throws that off. Apple pie, however, is served warm and brings a cozy feeling inside with each bite you take.

Contrastingly enough, Shreya Shah (12) talks about how “pumpkin pie is always my go to’ if there is a pumpkin pie within a 20 foot radius, I will be grabbing a slice immediately!”
I personally agree with Amir, I think that apple pie has always been the top choice!
