After high school, our lives continue into different chapters. Whether we go to college, join the workforce, or pursue another path, we explore new opportunities. Yet, this does not mean we mean we leave everything behind, including high school. Our school has provided us with many connections and experiences. In fact, some Yorba Linda alumni have returned to campus to help current students. Our most recent alumni who have had a presence here at Yorba Linda are Zaphera Fidelis, Emma Perron, and Faith Desio.
Zaphera Fidelis was part of Yorba Linda’s graduating class of 2023. During high school, she was part of the yearbook staff and dance team. She now attends Chapman University in Orange, California. Outside of school, she coaches Yorba Linda’s Dance Company. She found her new place on the team, where she is able to coach dancers who were in the same position as her a few years prior. With her knowledge as a dancer on the team, she is able to provide insight and personal experiences to the team.
Another returning student is Emma Perron! During her time in high school, she was very involved on campus; Emma was on the women’s soccer team, yearbook and newspaper editor-in-chief. She also started her own photography business. She is currently attending Hope International University during her freshman year. She currently takes photos for many Yorba Linda sports teams and coaches the yearbook class. Emma Perron (alumni) shares, “I never thought I’d be back at YLHS, but it was a running joke that I would come back and teach. My senior superlative was ‘Most likely to come back and teach at YL’,’ so it is funny that it is partly true. I’m so glad I came back to YLHS to coach photography in yearbook. That’s where my business began, so I’m excited to give back to the class that gave me my career.” Emma has continued her passion and is able to share it with younger individuals who may have similar interests.
Last but not least, Faith Desio was a senior last year. During her time in school, she started working at Nikki’s Kitchen and began her own business, Just a Bite Bakery; she was also part of The Wrangler staff at Yorba Linda! Now, she has focused on her work and continued to grow her business. On Future Ready Day, she came as a speaker to talk about being a baker and even brought samples of her own cookies. Faith Desio (alumni) talked about her experience that day and said, “It was so fun getting to come back for Future Ready Day! I am so thankful for this opportunity! I loved getting to talk to students that were in my same position as last year. I feel like I really connected with the students, and I loved seeing some familiar faces.” It is so amazing that she is able to teach younger students at Yorba Linda.
While these alumni have branched out to new paths for themselves, they have found ways to support current students at YLHS! We are so proud of these alumni and thankful for all their work!
