As AP testing approaches and the school year ends, you should get into that summery mood with delicious ice cream. Luckily, Yorba Linda is home to many different ice cream parlors, each with various flavors and atmospheres inside. As a photojournalist who loves an icy treat, I will explore some of my favorite ice cream places in “the land of gracious living”: Baskin Robbins, Blue Scoop, Rich Farms, and YogurtLand.

To start, Baskin Robbins has been a favorite of mine since I was little. It has been a trendy ice cream chain in business for 77 years. Baskin Robbins is known for its various flavors, such as the classic Mint and Chip or the unique Gold Medal Ribbon. They sell ice cream; you can even purchase ice cream cakes, milkshakes, and smoothies. Despite being such a popular ice cream place, their friendly and efficient staff always prevents lines from getting too long. Some may argue that their prices should be lowered for the ice cream customers receive. However, it is relatively reasonable. 

Next, Blue Scoop Creamery is a local ice cream shop found only here in Yorba Linda. Blue Scoop is known for its outstanding customer service and constantly changing menu, providing customers with many unique and tasty flavors. Sometimes this can be not very pleasant if your favorite flavor is not being sold. However, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! The environment inside is modern yet welcoming, and there is even a private room that you can rent out for various events. Blue Scoop is an essential part of Yorba Linda and has even done fundraisers with our school. YLHS even got its flavor on the menu, called the “Mustang Mix.”

Finally, Yogurtland isn’t exactly ice cream, but it will satisfy your cravings on a hot summer day. It is a ubiquitous frozen yogurt chain where customers serve themselves and pay once they have constructed their perfect treat. While there aren’t as many flavors to choose from compared to Baskin-Robins and Blue Scoop, Yogurtland occasionally swaps out its flavors, adding excitement. I don’t find their flavors to be too interesting. However, they have many allergy-friendly options, providing flavors for dairy and gluten-free customers. Yogurtland has decent prices for a good amount of frozen yogurt. However, it doesn’t feel as homey or welcoming as Blue Scoop and Baskin Robbins.

So, the question arises, which ice cream place is truly the best in Yorba Linda? The best place to find good ice cream is Blue Scoop! Their wide variety of fun and unrepeated flavors, along with the superb quality, is what makes it so unique to our town. Drake Dalmas (10) said it best “Blue Scoop will always be unmatched.” All in all, Blue Scoop is the place to go when you need to indulge in an icy snack.
