Best Weekend Vacations

Since I could remember, my family and I have gone on vacations whenever we could. Any time there was a three day weekend, or a week off, we would find places to travel to. The major breaks called for bigger vacations to other states or countries, but we found places closer to home for the weekend vacations. Here are some of the best vacation spots if you’re looking for a little slice of paradise for just a couple of days:

1) Lake Arrowhead

Lake Arrowhead is absolutely stunning, with a gorgeous lake and evergreen trees. It’s a great place to rent a boat and spend the day on the water. There is a small town off the lake, but there isn’t a lot to do, so Lake Arrowhead is definitely more for relaxing, not as much adventure. There are also numerous hikes available near the lake.

2) Big Bear

Perhaps the most popular spot, Big Bear has a beautiful lake where you can rent a boat or do water sports, and many other fun activities. There are gorgeous hikes and bike rides you can take. Big Bear also has a great downtown, with many good restaurants and fun shops. There are also ziplining and adventure tours in Big Bear, which I would recommend. Naomi Peralta claims that she “had a great time in big bear” on a trip with sister.

3) Solvang

This is one of the less known vacation spots I’d say. It’s next to Los Olivos, an absolutely stunning place with vineyards everywhere you look. Solvang is roughly two hours from Yorba Linda, and it’s a city “soaked in Danish culture.” Danish culture is obvious through the architecture and food. It feels as if you are in a different state, or even a different country. There is good coffee, food, and shopping in Solvang.

4) Joshua Tree

Joshua Tree National Park is a place of adventure and exploration. In my opinion, the best way to experience Joshua Tree is in a trailer or a tent. There are countless places to mountain bike or offroad, and the stars that fill the night sky are breathtaking.

5) Las Vegas

Las Vegas is definitely a change of pace from the others I’ve listed here, and it’s two hours further, but this is honestly a great place for a weekend vacation. There is plenty to do in Las Vegas. If you’re looking for a more relaxing vacation I would recommend staying in or around the Red Rock hotel, about twenty to thirty minutes away from the strip but still having fun activities without the crowds. The strip is a place to have good food and fun times, a truly vibrant vacation.

I hope whichever weekend vacation you choose, you have a great time, try new things, and make memories that you will never forget.
