2024 has been a great year so far for animation. We’ve gotten great productions left and right and I personally have watched a lot of them, but 5 of them stand out due to their awesome stories and animation. In this article I’m gonna go over my personal favorites, and what stands out about them
At number 5 we have Terminator Zero: a spin off of the movies that follows a man named Malcom Lee who was developing an AI named Kokoro to compete with the original from the movie, Skynet. But on the day it’s supposed to be reviewed, he finds that he and his family are being chased down by a killer robot and a strange soldier from 2022. So far, they only have one season out and I really cannot wait for the next.
Number 4, this one appeals to the younger generation more, it’s a spinoff of the newest of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movies: Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It takes place after the movie and follows the turtles and their friend April during their misadventures trying to navigate being crime fighters and highschoolers. The show is overall pretty good and I recommend it to any fans of the original movie.
Coming in at number 3 we got Kite Man: Hell Yeah! The series follows the duo Kiteman and Golden Glider and their criminal actions of making money. As they strive to pay for a dive bar and make a safe haven for the rogues of Gotham. They navigate their marriage and their experiences with other criminals, it’s a really great series and is made by the creators of the Harley Quinn series!
Second place we got another series that takes place in Gotham, Batman: Caped Crusader. After the death of his parents, now adult billionaire, playboy Bruce Wayne, better known as Batman a vigilante in Gotham, fights crime and seeks vengeance for his city aiming to stop all crime in Gotham. While it’s not the first Batman series, and most definitely will not be the last, it’s still a really good watch if you love DC! Joe Skagen (10) says, “I think Batman is sick!”
And finally at the number one spot, X-Men ’97. Mutants are superpowered beings who despite being discriminated against fight for the good of the world and lay their lives down to save every life they can, even those who so prejudiced them. The series follows the X-Men and their pursuit for justice in a dangerous new world, it’s an absolutely amazing series.
All in all 2024’s been a great year for animation and I am really looking forward to the next seasons of all of these shows, I hope they hit just as hard as the first and continue to do so, I know recently Marvel and DC haven’t been doing so hot and that these might just be the jumpstart they need to get back into making quality content.
