Wow! This year’s Emmys were phenomenal. Let’s talk about some of the highlights. There were lots of close votes this time around. We hope your favorites won, though there’s always next year for all the actors and shows unfortunate enough to lose!
Starting off the night, this year’s hosts were father-son duo Dan and Eugene Levy, who both wrote and acted on the beloved television show Schitt’s Creek. With their playful banter and lighthearted jokes, they both did a fantastic job hosting this year, and we can only hope the same for next year’s hosts.
Onto some of the highlights of the awards ceremony, with some heartwarming reunions with the e casts of “The West Wing,” a beloved American political drama, and the cast of “Happy Days,” a sitcom set in the 60’s and 50’s. Seeing these actors meet each other again to announce the winners surely made longtime fans happy.
A heartwarming moment this year was a heartfelt tribute to a best friend, John Oliver who make a beautiful eulogy for his dog, who unfortunately passed away. The best part of said eulogy being when he exclaimed to the crowd that, “She was an amazing dog, and this isn’t just for her. It’s for all dogs! All dogs. You’re very good girls, very good boys. You all deserve a treat.”
Moving on to a more lighthearted moment of this year’s Emmy’s was when six time winner Jean Smart thought the streaming services HBO and Max were two different things, much to the enjoyment of the crowd, though she did mention how it’s “Just what we need, another network.” Was she joking?
Who knows, but speaking of jokes let’s talk about some of the ones the hosts were cracking at the beginning of the awards, such as when Eugene couldn’t figure out where to go on several occasions which resulted each time in roaring laughter from the crowd. Needless to say, this Canadian father-son duo did not disappoint.
And so, as the curtain falls on another Emmy Awards ceremony, we can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation for what’s to come. This year’s show was a memorable one, filled with laughter, tears, and heartwarming moments. I’m positively sure that we all look forward to seeing what next year’s awards ceremony has in store for us, from the nominees and winners to the unforgettable moments that will surely unfold. Until next year!
