Leah Heyman, Features Editor

The grueling week filled of minimal sleep, cramming, stress, and emotional breakdowns. The 3 days that every student knows, and despises. The climax of the semester. Finals week is upon us, Mustangs.

Despite the overly dramatic intro, finals week is not as traumatic as we make it out to be, so long as we don’t throw ourselves into a descending spiral of doom and failure. Below are 30 helpful reminders, tips, and facts to help you get through next week in one (whole) piece.

1. Studying will only benefit you in the long run

2. Know when to stop studying to give your mind a break

3. Cramming is not the answer (Trust me)

4. Try to compartmentalize–take it subject by subject, day by day

5. EAT HEALTHY FOODS THAT MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE A BOSS

6. Junk food is a no go (yes, I know how good in-n-out is)

7. Overwhelmed? Focus on the subjects that need your attention the most

8. Breathe

9. Remind yourself that one grade in one class is not going to ruin your future

10. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT wait until the night before to study

11. Do not cry yourself to sleep. The only result is soggy pillows and low confidence

12. Frequently give yourself little pushes of encouragement

13. Treat yourself after getting your first finals over, but proceed to buckle down for the next ones

14. Don’t even try to fake a sickness to get out of taking the test

15. Accept that it is going to be difficult and do everything in your power to overcome it

16. It is just a test. You are a capable human being. Breathe.

17. Don’t lock yourself up in your room for 24 hours straight

18. Try to move study locations to get a fresh perspective every once in a while

19. Motivate yourself to stay focused

20. PUT DOWN THE PHONE. I DON’T CARE HOW CUTE HE/SHE IS OR HOW BADLY THEY WANT TO HANG

21. You will have a life as soon as these three days of pain are over

22. Create an image of your dream job/school/life, and hone in on that image when you’re feeling defeated

23. You are under a lot of pressure, but so is everyone else. You are not alone

24. Breathe

25. Understand that teachers are not out to get you

26. You are not the dumbest person in the world because you waited to study, move on and buckle down

27. DRINK WATER FREQUENTLY

28. Remember who you are as a person, do not let this week destroy you

29. Holocaust survivors suffered for 12 years, you can suffer for 3 days

30. Come up with a mantra. A simple “You can do this” will suffice. Tell this to yourself at least 10 times a day.
