Club Rush is always an exciting time at any high school as it is the commencement of the new school year, opening doors to social opportunities and getting involved with the school. This past week, Club Rush took place at Yorba Linda High School, showcasing about 92 clubs. With this many participants, YLHS students can be more involved and open doors to new experiences.
One club that stood out was Pickleball Club, which gained three full pages of sign-ups. Along with many other clubs, this is its first year. However, it is already gaining popularity among the student body, with many wanting to be an officer. Speaking of these officer positions, Matt Toledo (11), Sadie Smith (11), and Madison Juhl (11) make up part of the leading body.
This club will put together a collection of activities throughout the year. Matt Toledo (11), president of the pickleball club, states, “As the pickleball club, we intend to teach those interested in pickleball all about it even if they have never played, as it’s a new hobby anyone can pick up. Also, we want to attend tournaments to show off our skills. We hope people want to check it out for themselves, and we can’t wait to see everyone show off what they can do.” These activities will help many students gain some physical activity time and have fun with friends. This club is an entertaining and safe environment aiming to help anyone find their inner pickleball skills.
Sadie Smith (11), the treasurer of the pickleball club, is looking forward to a great time with this club this year, expressing, “I am going to focus on creating a fun place where people can spend time and laugh with their friends to stray away from the stresses of school.” Along with a competitive environment for pickleball enthusiasts, this club is a great place for relieving stress from school. You do not need to be an expert at the sport; you can just be a student looking to spend time with friends and make some memories.
The pickleball club is doing great for its first year at Yorba Linda High School. It facilitates many opportunities for enthusiasts looking for a competitive team to play for or cheer on, as well as anyone looking to learn a new skill or make memories alongside their friends. Hence, this club is a great way to get more involved with YL, and they are very open for you to join.
